How am I still raving this hard in my 30s?
First of all: I SLEEP. 😂
If I get an opportunity to nap at a festival, I’m taking it. If I can get a full night of sleep, I’m getting it. I’ve got nothing to prove by running on 2 hours of sleep for 4 days straight.
A few things that have kept me going:
Sleep whenever you can. So you best believe I take naps during Camping festival weekends. .
Food is fuel. You’re walking, dancing and sweating for HOURS. A granola bar and a couple boiled eggs is not enough.
Hydrate. Don’t wait until you’re already dying of thirst to start.
Electrolytes. Enough said.
STRETCH. Before the festival. During the festival. When you get back. Your knees and lower back will thank you.
Pace yourself. You don’t need to go 100% at every single set. Sit down. Find some shade. Take a break. There will be another drop.
☕ Caffeine. Probably more than I should admit. 😂 But caffeine also isn’t a replacement for sleep, food or water.
👟 Take care of your feet. Good shoes and sitting down occasionally can be the difference between enjoying Day 3 and surviving Day 3.
👂 Wear earplugs. I would like to still be doing this AND hearing the music when I’m 50.
The biggest thing I’ve learned is that festival stamina isn’t about being able to push through everything.
It’s knowing when NOT to.
I fully intend on being the 50-year-old Rave Dad still throwing down at festivals.
So yeah.
I’m taking the nap. 😂
