Most adoption posts get a few shares and hopeful comments. But when photos of Lufy appeared online, strangers reportedly offered homes, money, and even joked that they would give up a kidney just to help him.
Lufy was a 1-year-and-7-month-old Bichon Frise posted for adoption by Sahara Kennel Rescue in Dubai in March 2025. His photos quickly spread far beyond the UAE, but people weren’t stopping because he was simply cute. There was a much harder story behind those wide eyes.
According to the rescue, Lufy was a normal puppy until he was around four months old, when he began stumbling frequently. Over the following months, he lost the use of his back legs and developed a persistent snorting sound while breathing.
The rescue said Lufy had been bred in Korea to be unusually small and was eventually surrendered when his family could no longer manage the care he required.
Volunteers gave him a custom wheelchair, carefully measuring his tiny body so he could move around more independently. They said he patiently sat through the process, as if he somehow understood that everyone was trying to make his life a little easier.
And despite everything, Lufy didn’t seem to lose his personality.
He still approached other dogs with curiosity, greeted strangers gently, and happily rode around in a stroller with his little tongue hanging out.
His body may have needed extra help, but his spirit never seemed to get the message that he was supposed to be different. ❤️🐶
That is what made Lufy’s story travel so far. People weren’t just seeing a dog who needed a home. They were seeing a tiny survivor who still had so much love to give.
