Have you ever visited Pace, the organic Italian/California style restaurant tucked discreetly away underneath the Canyon Country Store in Laurel Canyon? ☮️

It’s my favorite restaurant in all of Los Angeles ✨

As you can imagine, for a building that’s over 100 years old there have been numerous businesses underneath the Canyon Country Store.

The Cat & Fiddle pub, owned by musician Kim Gardner and his wife Paula , operated here from 1982-85. Their pub is still going strong today, currently located at 742 Highland Avenue. (And I highly recommend the fish and chips!)

Pace still retains reminders of the property’s past, including an endearing cat and fiddle figurine just outside of its entrance. 🐈 & 🎻

Paramount To Keep Headquarters In Los Angeles Post-Merger: “We Aren’t Going Anywhere”

Via DEADLINE:

Paramount is not leaving California — at least not anytime soon. The settlement of the anti-trust lawsuit filed by 12 state attorneys general calls for the company, which is set to acquire WBD shortly, to keep both the Paramount lot on Melrose and the Warner Bros. lot in Burbank for the next five years.

“We wanted those lots to be protected, they are part of the the broader solution, and I believe that the future of this merged company is in Los Angeles for many years to come for the foreseeable future,” California AG Rob Bonta said during his press conference about the settlement Monday morning

“Let me be clear: the newly merged company will be headquartered in Los Angeles,” said Paramount Chairman and CEO David Ellison “We aren’t going anywhere. Our history is here and this is where our future is being built.”

A local landmark designation will recognize and protect the store’s cultural and community significance, highlighting the important role that everyday neighborhood places play in shaping local identity and ensuring that this iconic piece of Los Angeles history endures for generations to come.⁣

On October 15, 2026, the nomination will go before the Cultural Heritage Commission, when commissioners will decide whether to consider the Canyon Country Store for designation as a local landmark.⁣
