In this week's Thurs-4 we highlight the multitalented, Bekka Prewitt. Bekka took the time to answer our questions. Bekka Prewitt is an American SAG-AFTRA actress, voice actress, and model, who's co-starred on shows such as Nashville (ABC), General Hospital (ABC), Getting on (HBO), Superhuman (FOX), Freedom Heroes (ABC) as well as lending her voice-over talents for Ever After High (Kitty Cheshire), Disney, The Evil Within 2 (Video Game), 97.3 FM (News Anchor)
Q: How do you remain grounded in a challenging industry such as entertainment?
Bekka: Frankly, itās not hard to stay grounded when youāre hustling every day and every night pursuing your craft. Thereās a business side and thereās a creative side. You have to be a master of both. Itās a very time-consuming industry and youāre fighting to make it daily. Thatās humbling.
Q: What event or person inspired you to get into acting?
Bekka: Looking back, I donāt really believe there was a specific event or person in particular who inspired me to act. I think it has always been a passion of mine to perform, with the hope of touching, inspiring, moving people... bringing joy and laughter...encouraging people to see things in a different light, connect with people or ideas they never have before, and waking something in them.
Stories are powerful. Whether it be film, TV or music⦠Each of these mediums has the power to touch oneās soul in a way that nothing else does. And I wanted to reach people in that way. I still do.
Q: Would you mind sharing with us a favorite role/character you played or a project that you were involved in?
Bekka: Iām so grateful to God for all the work Iāve been able to do that itās hard to name just one role.
Being the voice of Kitty Cheshire on Ever After High on Nickelodeon was joyous for me. I have several film roles I loved to play⦠Including Elizabeth in Angel Lust and Terry in a Strange Brand of Happy, currently on Amazon Prime. My biggest role will be unveiled soon but canāt talk about that one yet. But Iām very excited!
Q: What advice would you give to others trying to make a career in the entertainment industry?
Bekka: The advice I would give others, specifically those who want to act, is TRAIN, TRAIN, TRAIN. Take classes, workshops, do community theater, high school theater, etc. Learn the craft. Explore in these mediums because they are your training ground. So many people want a quick fix for everything in life. But being in a business is hard work and that includes this one. But if itās what you love, then youāll enjoy the training and it will be more than worth it.
