Brain fog is not a medical or psychological condition in and of itself but rather a symptom that manifests as a result of other underlying medical conditions. The term brain fog refers to the sensation of being mentally sluggish and experiencing a lack of mental clarity. Brain fog, also referred to as mental fatigue, is a cognitive dysfunction characterized by memory problems, lack of mental clarity, poor concentration, and an inability to focus. The causes of brain fog are varied and may involve a combination of factors, including stress, lack of sleep, hormonal changes, medications, and underlying medical and mental health conditions. It is notable that brain fog cannot be diagnosed with a single test. Brain fog may be indicative of an underlying issue. If you are experiencing persistent or severe brain fog, consulting a healthcare professional is recommended to identify and address the underlying causes.
