Relentless Filmworks
We started back in 2007 in hopes of taking control of our own destiny in the film industry. We quickly found that actors were in desperate need of footage for their reels. The top complaints regarding their reels have always been the same: Tired of tracking down footage from overwhelmed and ill prepared producers, footage that is lacking production value, or even good footage but the clips don’t really capture your essence.
We decided to brand ourselves as the “filmmaker” guys who shoot reels, because that’s what we were. Troy Price was a former actor/model learning how to light scenes and direct, Steve Whelan was always an actor learning the other side of the camera, and Troy’s future wife Amber Price was a skilled editor and writer. The small team was set and soon became swamped with actors trying this new concept of manufacturing reels as opposed to obtaining them the old fashioned way.
There are several arguments to made for manufacturing a reel it turns out. The only caveat, the production value has to be there. Period. End of story. This is why capable filmmakers have us shoot their reel as opposed to creating an ad hoc production team. The learning curve is too high, and that translates in to $ and time, and we all know who wins that argument.
Actors are able to brand themselves. That is crucial in this business. An actor has to know what their strengths are and market that special quality that makes them totally unique. We are able to help that process out because our scenes are all original and tailored to each actor. It all starts out with a consultation/brainstorming session, and actors are forced to create a game plan for their reel. It is an eye opening process, and a fantastic exercise in honing in on the essence you bring to the table.
