Happy Super Bowl Sunday LVII! Who are you rooting for? The Chiefs or the Eagles?

Beyond the excitement of the game and seeing Rihanna’s haft-time show, we’re thrilled that this year is the greenest Super Bowl yet with the NFL’s ongoing sustainability initiatives!

The NFL has partnered with locals in Arizona to create an event with 92% waste diversion, with a focus on waste: What can be recycled, what can be composted, and what has to go to the landfill.

In addition 500 trees have been planted across Arizona through 6 planting projects and a further 6 coming up, to support Phoenix’s goal of becoming a 25% shade canopy.

It looks like the Eagles aren’t the only green thing at this year’s Super Bowl! Let’s go! 💚

On January 10, 2023, our very dear friend, , left this world peacefully and surrounded by a close circle of family and friends. Tatjana has been a longtime friend and spokesperson for Return to Freedom and America’s wild horses and b***os.


One of the original “Supermodels”, her love extended to all creatures great and small, but horses held a very special place in her heart. Tatjana was a lifelong equestrian, and faithfully cared for her beloved Andalusians.

“One of my dearest and most compassionate friends, Tatjana’s wit and humor made me laugh out loud. I will miss her, but I will treasure our friendship forever”,  said Neda DeMayo, RTF Founder and President.

To celebrate her life and legacy, Return to Freedom has set up the Tatjana Patitz Legacy Fund  Donations to the Fund will help support Return to Freedom's wild horse and b***o conservation work, educational activities and events and provide for the over 450 wild horses and b***os living at our sanctuary. We are so incredibly saddened to hear that Tatjana Patitz, has passed away at the age of 56. One of the top supermodels of the 1980’s and 1990’s, the Hamburg-born beauty was well-known for her work with and photographer, Herb Ritts, while also starring in George Michael’s music video, Freedom.

Later in her life she pulled away from the spotlight and became impassioned with the plight of America’s Wild Mustangs, becoming involved in the fight to save them. We featured her as our May/June 2010 cover story, Wild Beauty, which was photographed at Mustang Refuge in Lompoc, CA, by celeb photographer, .baer and interviewed by our Fashion Director, .g.berns

She was a beautiful presence inside and out, and will be missed. RIP Tatjana

We are saddened to learn that iconic British fashion designer and activist, Dame Vivienne Westwood, passed away today.

A pioneer who helped craft the look of the 1970’s, Westwood was one of the most influential fashion designers of all time who utilized her brand as a platform to promote awareness and campaign for a better world, including the fight against climate change and mobilizing people around its impact on Mother Earth.

Committed to adapting the way she produced clothes and accessories to reflect the growing urgency to change how the fashion industry operates, Vivienne Westwood had a mission to take greater care of people and the environment.

RIP Dame Westwood. Thank you for being a constant source of inspiration, and for your passion to protect our planet. The world and the fashion industry will be a little more dull without you.

It’s the holiday season and a time when most of us can’t help feeling happy. The music in every store, the decorations and lights accenting trees and night skies, the peppermint lattes, and the promise of celebrations with our loved ones lift our spirits and make everything seem bright . . . Until we think of gift giving and everyone on our list.

The reality is that the holidays are an expensive time of year and none more so than this year as we deal with extreme inflation in every sector of our lives.
