I'm not very experienced when it comes to building things, but when I saw .it.yourself.mum share her Kallax hack, I challenged myself to try!
The base was made using instructions from the DIY Wife on Youtube.
I did not use any instructions (except for the base), and just kind of winged (wung?) it as I went. Surprisingly, it all worked out. It has several flaws, but I'm pretty happy with it. ☺️

Two Ikea kallex units and kura bed. I just made a base out of ply wound for space underneath.

- it’s a banquette seating area I need to make the table still.

Beware - the new model of these shoe cabinets is now whiter and different surface to previous ones so we had to move old one and get more. Loving the finished product though for our small hallway

Edit. Sorry i should really have said, these are the navy option shaker style doors. We colour matched it at the decorating centre to paint the skirting and architrave the same. It is in an alcove and my husband built the end bit. No it isn't narrow, this is just the end that comes out of the alcove

Real parent talk time. If you're like me... Your kids room DRIVES YOU NUTS! Like bang your head in a wall, sick of yelling at them to clean up... Nuts! And frankly I'm sick of the fights... "Her stuff is on my side!", 'I cleaned up more than her!", and my favorite, "she won't leave me alone!". Quite frankly my sanity and patience are gone - I've had enough!
So this week I decided to split the girls rooms into two! After a lot of measuring, planning, and a hefty visit to IKEA, we came home with 2-4x4 kallax storage cubes, 2-4x2 kallax storage cubes, 8-sets of kallax drawer inserts, and 24- kallax cupboard inserts. We got rid of the dressers and replaced them with drawers and cupboards. We added a curtain between rooms, put up a wardrobe on one side, and ORGANIZED (i.e. threw our 4 garbage bags of 'dont throw that away it's my favorite' piece of garbage). I even added a doorbell and storage cubes! Plus it wouldn't be from me unless I circuited and labeled everything!
The end result is two even spaces that the girls can have privacy in! Sophia just turned 9, Paityn is 7... They're only going to get older need it more. Time will tell if this fixes all the problems but so far, it's working well.

Kallax transformation. Almost finished craft station to hold all the junk 😀 Still thinking about changing drawers k***s to smaller ones in black to match the doors. And I think the baskets should be darker, I don't want to buy new ones, so I'm gonna "upholster" them with other fabric on top, but not sure about the color yet. Nevertheless, I'm still happy with the result 😊

I've waited a year to get this. I hated the pile of shoes at the door. I never thought the kids would use it, but at least when I wanted the pile gone, I would have a place to put them. They actually use it! I can't recommend this piece enough. Sturdy. Roomy. Easily fits 12 adult shoes... even big Uggs.
It is not decorated how I want it, I'll get there. I want a mirror eventually.

This small dormered upstairs room was really just used for storage until we cut into the attic style wall and inserted a kallax shelf unit. Works perfectly for shoes, bags, sweaters, etc. Added metal clothes rods (Amazon) and now it is a perfect walk in closet.
