Getting my 78s ready for tonight for Jazzville in Palm Springs! Before I play bass with Benny Brydern's Hot Club Quintette (feat. Luca Pino, Craig Fundyga, & Bob Hamilton) I'll be playing a hour of 78s on a 1922 Pathe Gramaphone. I've gone through my collection of late-teens & 1920's 78s and pulled out some gems! If you're there you'll hear original pressings of Marion Harris, Roy Smeck, The Charleston Chasers, The Little Ramblers, Wilbur Sweatman's Original Jazz Band, Bernardo Di Pace, Clifford Hayes, Jelly Roll Morton, and more! The one playing here is Irving Aaronson & His Commanders playing 'I'm Just Wild About Animal Crackers' recorded for Victor in New York on June 23, 1926. Straight outta the Jazz Age! The flip side is a tune called 'Waffles', naturally. See you in Palm Springs!
