Next week, we'll be publishing Vera Frances Lugo's LEONORA, an exuberant, giddy choral work about a young girl who will not go to sleep any time soon. Let's get to know a little more about Vera, shall we?

Vera is a vocal artist, teacher, and composer from San Juan Capistrano, CA. She earned her BM in Vocal Performance from California State University, Northridge and has since been a fixture in the Southern California choral community. Her work has been performed by C3LA: Contemporary Choral Collective of Los Angeles and the First United Methodist Church of Santa Monica. As a chorister, Vera regularly performs with Tonality and C3LA, where she serves on the board as the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Chair. She also teaches group piano and voice at the Barnsdall Junior Arts Center.

In her spare time, Vera can be found singing harmonies with the Beatles, arranging songs on a dinky toy piano, and finding the most fun sounds to make on a theremin.

Be on the lookout next week for Vera's LEONORA, which will only be available at See-A-Dot! You can get a free perusal score of LEONORA by subscribing to our newsletter at seeadot.com.

Peace Is Every Step, by David V. Montoya

NOW AVAILABLE: David V. Montoya's PEACE IS EVERY STEP is now available for purchase and perusal at www.seeadot.com! Check out the score video below, performed by the Glass City Singers and conducted by Bradley Scott Pierson.

PEACE IS EVERY STEP is a meditative setting of Thich Naht Hahn's poem that resonates with the same quiet, ecstatic joy of the original text. The vocal lines alternate between layered, polyphonic entrances and swelling homophony, depicting our individual spiritual journeys as they cyclically converge and split again. Sitting in the liminal space between sacred and secular, this piece can be programmed equally in a concert setting or religious service of almost any denomination.

In Flanders Fields, by John Cantrell

It's THROWBACK THURSDAY! Today, we are throwing it back to John Cantrell's IN FLANDERS FIELDS, which we released in 2018. Check out the score video below, performed by the St. Michael's Church Choir.

The lyrical simplicity and delightfully unexpected chord changes are the key elements of what makes this piece such a success. The wistful, melancholy melodies and subtle ornaments beautifully capture the nostalgia and regret of the poem. A wonderful piece for community choirs or strong high school ensembles.

Welcome to See-A-Dot.

See-A-Dot Music Publishing, Inc. was created by choral conductors for choral conductors. We know it is difficult to find great new choral music, and can take hours searching through catalogs for innovative, novel pieces. We wanted to make this process easier by ensuring that each piece in our catalog is worthy of a great performance and provides something new to your performers and your audience. The catalog is curated and focused on music for adult choirs, especially colleges and universities, though there are many pieces for community choirs, professionals, and strong high school ensembles. We also want to help new, emerging composers gain the exposure they need to get the recognition they deserve from the pieces they have written. We’ve run into too many wonderful pieces that will never see life after a first performance, and we would like to change that. We want to help get this music and these composers out into the world so that every voice has a piece to sing.
