The statistical average age for a grandmother is 50; for a grandfather, it is 52 or so.

The broad age range is from 30 to 110! Grandchildren ages range from birth to retirees.

This means that it is more likely than ever that 3 or even 4 generations of a family may have close relationships and bonds, just as many families did from ancient times to the early 1900s.

In every part of the world, grandparents and other elders have been respected and revered as fountains of wisdom and life experience. In the U.S., that has not been popular for a few decades, but with grandparents becoming younger and living healthy, longer, such a view of grandparents as a valuable asset to grandchildren seems to be returning to our country.
