CIRCUS ALCHEMIKUS is a production company engaged in the fine art of telling stories and transforming ordinary moments to extraordinary moments. Alchemy, traditionally, is defined as the science of changing the state of one type of matter into another, i.e. lead into gold, and the search for the Philosopher’s Stone, that Magical Essence that animates all matter. The pursuit of which leads the prac
titioner towards endless riches and the Life Eternal. Our definition is to call Alchemy the Art of Transformation, of changing something to another thing, be it a moment, an emotional state, an event, or a word, etc, and c., ad infinitum, QED. By this definition, the Philosopher’s Stone is discovered in the Infinity of the Moment, in the ability to create a Paradigm Shift within the confines of the most mundane, quotidian activities. Our practical intention in the creation of Circus Alchemikus is to find amazing and interesting circus performers, musicians, comedians, clowns, storytellers, and other Amazing People Who Do Amazing Things. We will work with them, developing a unique and interesting way to present what it is that they wish to do to join this Circus of Transformation. The playing space is not a ring, a tent, a theater, or other such venue. In Circus Alchemikus, the playing space is the camera lens. We allow ourselves open-ended creative license, which could mean that a circus act could include especially deft performance of everyday activities, a close exploration of the hand manufacture of some item, product, service, or work of art.
