Great question about choosing valves, which deserves a short novel of a reply! This will help get you started. Break it down into 3 steps:
1- Determine if you need to replace the pre-amp tubes or the power-amp tubes or both.
2- Do some research for the tone you most desire for each type of tube.
3- To do the install you must be sure to consult the instruction manuel or an online tutorial. Here are some useful websites: http://www.thegearpage.net www.gearslutz.com http://www.thetubestore.com/ https://www.tubedepot.com/

T.O.D.

The 12 bar blues is a foundation for so many styles of music, with endless alterations.

You should become a master at being able to play over these changes at the drop of a hat without repeating yourself.

Use the entire fretboard. You can play scales, arpeggios, pentatonics... endless ideas!

You could spend a lifetime on just blues.. Try developing your own "voice" over these universal changes and try to break away from using the same old shapes and move around the entire neck.

A legendary guitarist with the utmost technical training once told me he starts out his practice routine with a run down of playing the 12 bar blues solo.
He wouldn't stop until he felt he had played something new.... then moved on.

This advice stuck with me from that day and has helped me become the guitar player I strove to be.

David Stark, CGC.

I always say Kenny wrote the 90's. It's an honor to play along side of him.

T.O.D. - When practicing scales, always use a metronome and start slow! 72bpm is a great place to start with 8th notes then eventually 16th notes when you're ready. At which point you can gradually increase the bpm by 2 clicks at a time until you can't keep up. This should be a gradual progression over the course of an hour or so....remember, in order to play fast, you must practice slow!

Practice Tip

Many stringed instruments including the guitar are unique in the fact that the same note, in the same register can be played in multiple areas of the fretboard. The high E string, 1st string open on the guitar, can be played on 3 different areas of the fretboard for example..
However, they all sound slightly different due to the construction of the instrument and strings.
Point being, when learning a riff by ear, not from a video, try to define what area of the fretboard it was played on first......use just your ears...then "see"
if you were right.

Practice playing guitar standing and even walking around, as you won't be sitting down playing a show for a mass audience or at an audition for a gig you'd like to get..
