This week, the Iraqi Parliament passed a first reading of a potential new marriage law that could change the age of consent for girls to marry to just NINE YEARS OLD. As it stands, Iraq has some of the most *actually* progressive & protective of women marriage laws in the Middle East. This is jaw droppingly disgusting. And yet - feminists in the Western World remain silent. It is wrong to discriminate against people. Full stop. But it is RIGHT and our moral obligation to discriminate against evil IDEAS—to discern what is objectively right and what is objectively wrong. When we see a wrong being proposed, even on the other side of the world, it’s our duty to speak up and fight it. PLEASE speak up now for these girls, before it’s too late.
