🤨"The race to represent District 13, which includes the neighborhoods of Hollywood, Silver Lake, Echo Park, and Atwater Village, appears to be headed for a runoff between incumbent O'Farrell and Soto-Martinez -- an organizer for the union that represents hotel workers -- with neither coming close to topping the 50% margin needed to avoid a November showdown."

LA City Councilman Mitch O'Farrell appears to be headed for a runoff with labor organizer Hugo Soto-Martinez.

Riverside Dr Road Diet in all its glory 🤔. The road diet is intended to make room for bike lanes and "calm" traffic on a half-mile of Riverside Dr, between Los Feliz Blvd and Glendale Blvd. It’s a stretch that runs by a existing bike line on the L.A. River, large apartment buildings, Friendship Auditorium, tennis courts and two homeless shelters. #AtwaterVillage #losfeliz #SilverLake

They called for defunding the LAPD. Now they're looking to defeat City Council members

#eyeroll 🙄 "Defund the Police" CD13 candidates are coming to the June 7th ballot. They include community organizer Alberto Corado, who wrote: "I hope to one day make s'mores while the LAPD headquarters in downtown burns to the ground. Who's bringing the marshmallows?" And Democratic Socialist Hugo Soto-Martinez, who is on recorded as a "police abolitionist" is quoted saying, "We know that police officers do not prevent crime."

The challengers will test the public’s appetite for reining in spending at the LAPD, two years after the city erupted in protest over police abuse.

🚨Officer Involved Shooting🚨

The vehicle failed to yield, initiating a pursuit. The suspect vehicle collided into multiple vehicles during the pursuit, but no injuries have been reported as a result of the vehicle collisions.

Eventually, the suspect crashed into a parked vehicle at the intersection of Tyburn St. and Atwater Ave.

The male driver exited the vehicle armed, and an officer involved shooting occurred. A firearm was recovered from the suspect. Life saving measures were taken by officers, but the suspect ultimately succumbed to his injuries.

The passenger fled and was taken into custody without incident. The investigation is ongoing.

More details will be released at the conclusion of the investigation.
