🏆 'QOTZUÑI: PEOPLE OF THE LAKE' - Academy Award Qualifying Film
‘Qotzuñi: People of the Lake’ is an independent documentary short about the Uru-Murato indigenous communities of Lake Poopó, Bolivia. In 2016, Lake Poopó, the second largest lake in Bolivia at 3,000 square kilometers, dried up entirely due to diversion of its headwaters and climate change-related drought. Through interviews with community members, the film explores the drought’s impact on Uru livelihoods and culture, and their methods of community adaptation.
RNIFF proudly showcases the largest number of films directed by women of any film festival, continuing its legacy of championing female voices in cinema.

From Native and Indigenous Voices to Global Audiences take action protecting the Amazon Rainforest & ancestral lands in the U.S. and its guardians.
This week, world leaders will gather in Bélem, Brazil for COP30, the first global climate summit held in the rainforest. Brazil is home to 60% of the Amazon - the lungs of the Earth, and one of our planet’s most vital life-support systems. Yet is in peril.
In the last four decades, animal agriculture (pasture and feed crops) has driven 95% of its deforestation in Brazil. Globally animal agriculture and extractive industries like mining and oil have caused the destruction of hundreds of millions of acres of irreplaceable ecosystems.
Our Native and Indigenous Peoples have long been—and continue to be—the true guardians of our ancestral lands, showing the world that protecting nature is our most powerful solution to the crises of climate change, biodiversity loss, and human well-being.
For three decades, Red Nation Celebration Institute (RNCI) has showcased powerful environmental films through and Native Women in Film & Television, in collaboration with our partners, to share knowledge, elevate Indigenous voices, and inspire action toward a more sustainable future.
Our Mission is a powerful media coalition initiative aimed at raising global awareness about the glaring lack of inclusion of Native Women in Film & Television in all media. This issue is directly intertwined with the devastating epidemic of Missing and Murdered Native and Indigenous Women, Girls, and People.
As a young Vietnam War soldier, a gr***de blast robbed Michael Naranjo of his eyesight. But he didn’t lose sight of his integrity and ambition. He fought past critics and social stereotypes to harness the life of his dreams.
Dream Touch Believe is a timeless biographical documentary about a man who succeeded in doing what he was told he couldn’t do.
Although Naranjo has no eyes and the use of just one hand, the Indigenous artist creates sculptures coveted by collectors worldwide. The shadow-like bronzes treasured for their haunting beauty are displayed prominently in homes, museums, and grand institutions like the White House and Vatican.
But it’s Naranjo’s life story that continues to spark hope within people of all walks of life. Dream Touch Believe is a film that will inspire audiences of all ages.
