Major California University Houses Manuscripts of Author's Books on Race and Politics in America

"We must ensure that future generations of researchers, scholars and the interested public have knowledge of and access to the works of authors on the always thorny issues of race and politics in America," said author and political analyst Earl Ofari Hutchinson. Hutchinson observed this at the presentation of the first of more than a dozen of his manuscripts of his published books on race and politics in America. The Earl Ofari Hutchinson Manuscript Collection will be housed at California State University Dominguez Hills Gerth Archives/Special Collection.

"The timing of the collection opening, at a university that serves a predominantly multi-ethnic community, and the month before one of the nation's most crucial elections,"said Hutchinson, "further heightens the importance and necessity of having these works on public display and discussion."

Gregory L. Williams the Gerth Archives Director noted, "The Earl Ofari Hutchinson Manuscript Collection is an important asset and contribution to the study, history, and chronicle of race and politics by those in our community and indeed the nation."

Los Angeles Urban Policy Roundtable President Will Call for Urgent Meeting with New LAPD Chief On Curbing Overuse of Deadly Force

Calls for LAPD Zero Tolerance on Wanton Deadly Force

Los Angeles Urban Policy Roundtable President Earl Ofari Hutchinson on Friday October 4 will call for an urgent meeting with the new LAPD who Mayor Bass will appoint that day on making the curb of the overuse of deadly force their number one priority.

"The high number of deadly force incidents in L.A. particularly South L A by the LAPD underscore the urgent need for the new LAPD chief to fully implement a zero tolerance policy toward the overuse of deadly force," says Hutchinson, " He calls for an urgent meeting with the new chief on this issue."

A Times analysis shows that LAPD officers continue to open fire despite policies intended to reduce shootings of people who hold a knife or other sharp weapon during a behavioral crisis.

Los Angeles Urban Policy Roundtable President Calls John Amos an Entertainment Industry Civil Rights Trailblazer

Los Angeles Urban Policy Roundtable President Earl Ofari Hutchinson on Tuesday October 1 called John Amos a true entertainment industry civil rights trailblazer. Amos broke ground in the award winning Good Times series, Roots and many roles that portrayed African-American men in non stereotypical roles. Amos fought for equity for Blacks in the film and TV industry.

"John Amos was a frequent guest at my weekly Los Angeles Urban Roundtable in South L.A. over the years" says Hutchinson, " He spoke continually about breaking barriers in the film and TV industry for African-American performers, writers, and producers. He was in every sense a true entertainment industry civil rights trailblazer."
