Long story short… I hired a company to redo my entire roof, which included removing and replacing 6 skylights and an old rusty attic fan.

Yesterday, after the crew left and the job was supposedly finished, I went up to take a look—and I noticed something immediately… all my old skylights and the rusty attic fan were still there. 😐

I double-checked the contract, and it clearly says everything was supposed to be replaced with new materials.

I reached out to the owner right away, and they told me they ran into an issue on site: the new skylights apparently aren’t the correct size, so they’ll need to custom order replacements and then swap everything out later.

What’s frustrating is that none of this was communicated to me until I brought it up. The last update I got from them after day one made it sound like everything was going smoothly.

Now I’m just trying to make sense of it all.

Wouldn’t this affect the quality of the work if they already re-shingled and reinstalled everything, only to come back later and rip it apart again to install the new skylights and fan?

At this point I’m less concerned about the back-and-forth and more focused on making sure this $25,000 project is actually done correctly.

Any advice or insight from people who’ve dealt with roofing work like this would really help. 😅

We’re still in the middle of the project, but honestly, seeing the framing and roofline finally start to come together makes all the long days feel worth it.

Definitely not finished yet, but it’s starting to look like something real instead of just a pile of lumber. 😅

The guy across the street has been outside doing yard work completely shirtless all afternoon, like he’s at some beach resort instead of right in the middle of a neighborhood where families and neighbors are constantly walking by.

And before anyone says “who cares,” it’s one of those things that just starts feeling awkward the longer it goes on. This isn’t a private backyard tucked away from view—it’s right out front in a shared space everyone passes through.

I already filed a formal complaint just so there’s at least a record of it if it keeps happening.

Maybe I’m old-fashioned, but I just feel like there’s a time and place for everything 😬

I walked into a small coffee shop expecting a quick drink… and within seconds it felt like I’d stepped into a weird financial standoff 😭

Right near the entrance there were big signs saying things like:

“NO TIP, NO ENTRY”
and
“TIPS REQUIRED FOR ALL ORDERS.”

No soft wording, no subtle vibe—just straight-up pressure before you even order.

Then I get to the register and the payment screen immediately flips around with preset tip options starting at 18%… before I’ve even gotten my coffee 💀

And that’s honestly when the whole feeling of the place shifted.

Because if tipping is required, is it even really a tip anymore? At that point it just feels like an extra fee with a different label.

Personally, I’d rather they just raise menu prices if that’s what it takes. It might cost the same, but at least it feels clear and straightforward.

Instead, it just felt awkward—like everyone was quietly being judged while trying to pay.

What made it even more uncomfortable was the tension at the counter. The cashier just stood there watching people slowly scroll through options like it was a test.

The person in front of me even asked if there was a way to skip the tip screen, and the employee just pointed at the sign without saying anything.

The whole mood of the place felt off over something that should’ve been as simple as grabbing a coffee.

I actually ended up leaving, because if the experience starts with pressure before you even get your drink, it stops feeling very welcoming pretty fast.

And based on everyone else’s faces, I definitely don’t think I was the only one feeling that way 😬

I even messaged saying I was only a few minutes away, but by the time I got home the entire order was already sitting outside like it had been launched onto the porch 💀

Cases of water just left on wet concrete.

Eggs balanced in the most questionable spot.

Bags shoved up against the wall.

Frozen stuff already starting to soften 😭

And yeah, I get it—drivers are busy.

But groceries aren’t cheap anymore. If I’m paying delivery fees, service fees, and tipping on top of that, it feels like basic care with the order shouldn’t be too much to ask for.

Anyone wanna pressure wash this for like $100 or something? 😅

Tesla Wall Charger was installed by an electrician about a month ago… and now half the house has no power 😅

It’s a Gen 3 charger, but something about the wiring doesn’t look right to me compared to the manual. The white wire is in the ground slot, and it also looks like a green screw was used to create a ground point.

At first everything seemed fine—it worked, but we started getting random outages here and there. Now it’s gotten worse and half the house is completely out, even after resetting everything.

So now I’m stuck wondering… is this just a coincidence, or could this install actually be the cause?

Because I’m looking at it like, “what exactly happened here, and how concerned should I be?” 😬

An old timer at work told me he’d never seen this trick before, so I figured I’d share it 😅

If you’re bending multiple conduits for a rack—or just trying to get your bends to actually match up—you can use a no-dog level to help keep things consistent.

Basically, you set your no-dog to the angle you want to bend, lock it in, and then just bend your conduit until it hits that level.

That way, every bend comes out the same without having to eyeball it or rely only on experience with the bender.

It’s a simple little trick, but it can save a lot of time (and wasted conduit) if you’re still getting the hang of things. 🔧

I found these stickers all over the campsite I’m staying at and I cannot get a straight answer about what they mean 😭

It’s literally just a big crossed-out nose. That’s it. No explanation, no context—just stuck on random posts and signs everywhere.

I tried Googling it thinking I’d get a quick answer, but instead I fell into a rabbit hole of other people asking the exact same thing… and the replies are all over the place. Some say “it means nothing,” others go “if you know, you know,” which honestly just makes everything more confusing. 💀

At this point I’ve started wondering if it’s some weird inside joke, a prank that somehow spread way too far, or just a local thing nobody wants to explain to tourists.

Why is everyone being so mysterious about a sticker?? 😅

I already called and filed a noise complaint because this just feels like one of those situations where awareness of other people kind of disappears.

What happened to being even a little mindful that you live in a neighborhood with other humans?

Some of us are wrapping up work all week and finally get one quiet evening to sit down, eat dinner, and breathe for five minutes… not listen to a lawn mower blasting through the walls like we’re inside a landscaping arena.

But apparently 6 P.M. is prime time for full-volume yard work and turning the whole street into a mowing championship. 💀

The engine is going, the noise is echoing, grass is flying everywhere—and I just keep thinking… this couldn’t wait a little?

Nobody’s lawn was in emergency mode.

At the end of the day, being a neighbor isn’t just about keeping your yard nice—it’s also about not making everyone else’s evening sound like a construction site.

So am I crazy for thinking that mowing at that hour is a bit much, or is this just normal now? 🤦‍♂️
