Today we release the brand new album from Patrick Shiroishi.
Glass House was originally composed and performed as a score in collaboration with Mamie Green’s dance-theatre collective VOLTA. The pieces were created for a specific environment and in conversation with movement, spoken text, embodied space, and a rich visual setting.
“I’ve been lucky to have been playing for so long that I have my own voice and I can use it to support them while still doing the things that interest me as an artist. I worked pretty closely with Mamie; we met and started creating the music. The dancers were constructing the work in real time and she had ideas for the music that would be a starting point. I’d draft something and we’d go back and forth, I’d watch them move, and then I would change things on my own. I wanted to be creative with the structure and form of the music as well.”
Glass House is out now on all streaming platforms, as well as digital and 180 gram deluxe vinyl for sale on Otherly Love's Bandcamp page.
