Our black youth today don't know who they are and where they came from. The youth of the 60's and 70's knew who they were because their history was taught in their schools and in their homes. It appears during these last two decades there has been an effort to eradicate Black American History. As a result, this has caused low self-esteem problems amongst our black youth. As they come of age, they should be aware of where they came from and what they are about. The youth of the 60's and 70's were very aware of this. Because of this awareness, James Brown created a national anthem "I'm Black and I'm Proud". America now, with all its new immigrants is a true melting pot. But like in every pot, each vegetable has its own identity. But, all of them together is what makes the soup. So having ethnic and cultural identity is what every group should pursue and be proud of. Remember, when you are amongst those that are different, you can be proud of who you are. The Tuskegee Redtails Graphic Novel story illustrates that very point.
