My mom bought the 2024 Chevy Blazer RS RWD. We bought it out of state because she liked the particular color, Galaxy Grey. This RWD was supposed to give us more mileage, but something is seriously not right. Right away, I noticed the range is nowhere near what's advertised. After taking a couple of months to evaluate and read comments here in this group, I fear there is a battery issue, possibly due to the car sitting without a charge before I purchased it.
After making a complaint regarding a different issue, I was told it sat in a lot while waiting to be sold. Unfortunately, I had already purchased it by this time. I was told there were no issues with the car, and of course, the Carfax came back clean. All the updates had been performed, and the car had 14k miles from the original owner.
For instance, we did a long trip recently, and within 15–20 minutes, she lost 15% battery. Any recommendations on how to navigate this at my local dealership would be greatly appreciated.
Edit:
After test driving about five different EVs, I landed on the Chevy because of many different factors.
When driving, my mom keeps it under 65 mph. As recommended, she's not driving with the air conditioner on, and I've never gotten close to 300 miles on a single charge. During her trips, she's been charging it to 100% each time. One-pedal driving is always on (not at 100%, but I'll try that).
Also, I work with batteries professionally in a data center, and I was wondering if anyone else has had any degradation issues. I've seen a couple of comments and advice for next steps, and that's the route I'm most likely going to take. There's no way, with the careful driving we're doing, that we should be receiving such low mileage.
There are many factors impacting the range, and I appreciate the kWh vs. mileage or energy consumption discussion. In a trial around town with zero hills and low speeds (50 mph or lower), the car reacts exactly the same: loss of battery with minimal travel (around a 15% drop within 15 minutes), low speeds, and no AC on. We even tried turning off the infotainment system, but at that point, I was like, "this is a selling point for the vehicle!" 😆
