History of Black Wilmington Episode 1
When you walk past the Bellamy Mansion, don’t just look at the grand columns—look at the hands that built them. 🏛️🔨

It was engineered and built by skilled enslaved and free Black artisans, including master plasterers and carpenter William B. Gould.
Out back stands one of the few fully restored, urban enslaved quarters left intact in the country—a stark reminder that our people weren’t just labor; they were the architectural backbone of this city.
