State of Defacto | a Sevada film | Synopsis

When single mother Anahid Kalentz complains about the horrors of war, it falls on deaf ears, as her son and only family, David, has made the decision behind her back to enlist in what will be known as the "Four Day War" of 2016. It doesn't take long for David to realize his robust decision to fight for Armenia against the intruding forces of Azerbaijan, was probably the most life-changing experience he'll have.

Having been convinced by the peer pressure of his teenaged friends, that war was a necessary evil to fight for God and Country, soon reveals the true face of what nationalistic hatred looks like. Beginning on April 1st, this war was as foolish as most wars are, as the cease-fire of 1994 ends and quickly turns deadly.

Fortunately, or unfortunately, the battlefield takes on a new spin due to the advancements in personal electronic devices, as David brings his smartphone to the front lines with Facetime capabilities. It quickly becomes every mother's nightmare when she sees a first-hand, live-feed of the consequences.

Vehicular | a Sevada film | Synopsis

Vehicular is an edge-of-your-seat, satirical thriller that will keep audiences guessing. The script hits all its dramatic beats at the right moments, subverting expectations and pushing its protagonist to his limits. The story is deeply reflective of the disillusionment felt by everyday people in this current economic and political climate, yet it provides sheer escapism. It poses the question, "What would you do if everything fell apart around you, and the restrictions of logic were extinguished? How far would you go to take revenge on those who wronged you?" Mann begins the story as an average Joe who has been walked upon, only to retaliate violently and transition into a twisted avenger of sorts. In many ways the story is like a superhero origin film for fans of psychological thrillers.

Our aim is to create a film that places us in the mindset of a regular guy turned mad man and take audiences on a roller-coaster ride. They will emerge from theaters feeling guilty that they enjoyed watching someone's violent descent into chaos. But most importantly, they will feel empathy for the protagonist and feel moved by his ultimate self-redemption. Despite all its carnage, Vehicular is primarily a performance-driven film. It will require an actor of immense range, personality and magnetism to carry viewers through to its violent conclusion with a sense of connection.

We envision the film as a visual tour de force. The fact that most of the story is set in a vehicle is an interesting challenge for maintaining a cinematic sensibility. Yet much like Buried, I aim to utilize special vehicle rigs and visual effects to make the interior of Mann's car its own special world. The story is constantly moving, and so too will the camera, not in a disorientating fashion, but via uniquely subjective and immersive techniques. We want to put the audience behind the wheel with Mann.

Vehicular is a film with great potential. Much like Falling Down, Fight Club and Collateral, it is a darkly-comedic, character-driven, action-thriller that appeals to an increasingly cynical generation.

Burning The Man | a Sevada film | Synopsis

What starts out as three separate stories, eventually falls into two and then, finally, one very disturbing tale of survival.

First, there’s Mr. Theodore, an artist who’s at the top of his game. He’s the best there is at his particular brand of art, and he knows it. He takes great pride in his work and each piece of art gets the same care and attention to detail as the last.

Second, there are four of the riches men in the world. But it seems these billionaires have become bored and have lost the thrill of spending money. Without the anxiety of buyer’s remorse, they need to find a pastime that will bring a certain nervous excitement to their next purchase.

Third, there’s Razzle, a regular at the Burning Man festival held in the California desert. It’s his unique business that puts his brother, Mr. Theodore, to work and allows the wealthy to invest in a rare opportunity to go hunting. The trophy in this case is a Tsantsa, more commonly known as a shrunken human head.

Then there’s Page, who by no choice of her own, is thrust into the middle of these three stories melding into one. She is next in line to be one of Mr. Theodore’s finest creations. The Tsantsa ordered by none other than her own husband. By sheer will, and a little luck on her side, she breaks free of her prison only to be “rescued” by our four billionaires. Will she make it out alive?
