This SoundCloud link connects directly to Omowale (also known as Kevin Michael Connor or Malik), a Los Angeles-based songwriter, composer, and DJ who serves as the director of the Afrofusionist Sound Lab.The concept represents a creative, cross-cultural sonic experiment:The Artistic Intent: The Afrofusionist Sound Lab operates as an experimental project and playlist series that bridges the "Global SouthEast" by blending genres across borders. It fuses traditional African rhythms and Afrobeats with distinct regional sounds from the East and South Asia. The Music: A prime example of this fusion is Omowale's track "same-old-love (punjabi-rock)", which explicitly weaves Punjabi musical influences into a hip-hop, rap, and rock framework. The Global South Context: Rather than focusing on standard Western commercial pop, this project actively centers on underground, diaspora, and independent tracks—stretching from West and South African Afro-house to South Asian melodies.
