Operating as usual

I had hoped to be able resume my coverage of the Los Angeles Kings by now, but unfortunately, I am still under the time-crunch of several non-hockey-related obligations, with little to no flexibility. As such, my coverage remains on hiatus, and will likely do so through the Christmas holidays and perhaps into January 2022.

I miss my work covering the Kings. I miss the people I work with and I miss providing all of you with the original content that I've worked to give you over the years. But I'll be back, eventually. Stay tuned and please enjoy the hockey without me (mostly; I still tweet a bit during games)!

One of the LA Kings all-time greats...

Fifty years since he was acquired by the Los Angeles Kings in a trade with the Montreal Canadiens, almost four decades since he played his last NHL game, five years since he was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame, Rogie Vachon laughs at his new role in life.

10/30/2021

LA Kings are going to have to play near perfect hockey in order to win, without Doughty and Walker. They don’t have the experience throughout the lineup to do that.

10/29/2021

It quickly became clear, against the #STLBlues, how much the LA Kings miss Doughty. Now, with Walker also out, I expect that LAK will sink deeply in the standings…probably too deep to get their heads above water. They simply don’t have enough to withstand what/who they’ve lost.

10/27/2021

Per LA Kings: D Drew Doughty ”... suffered a right knee contusion on Oct. 22 versus the Dallas Stars. He will begin his off-ice rehabilitation and is expected to start skating in about six weeks and return to play in approximately eight weeks.”

D Sean Walker ”... tore the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and medial collateral ligament (MCL) in his right knee against the St. Louis Blues on Monday. He will undergo surgery at a later date and is out for the season.”

“Abuse by coaches and parents is taking its toll on young and old officials alike. This is not a regional issue but a national one.”

I'm sure that many of you have noticed that Frozen Royalty has been very quiet lately.

That's due to me being buried under several, very time-consuming commitments outside of hockey, which continues to be the case.

As such, Frozen Royalty's coverage of the Los Angeles Kings will remain on hiatus through the opening of the new season. I expect to resume coverage by mid-November.

In the meantime, enjoy the return of the great sport of hockey!

How did they get the information they needed for each prospect? The Derek Forbort era comes to an end in Los Angeles. Not Forbort's fault but even after almost ten years and two Stanley Cups it is still hard to accept the Kings passed on Vladimir Tarasenko to take Forbort in 2010.
