Where Traveler Los Angeles ended the summer with a gorgeous night at The Point in El Segundo on Wednesday, September 21. About 35 guests turned out to explore the South Bay’s ultimate shopping destination with new additions including the wellness and restoration spa, Pause Studio, that gifted each guest a pass for a complimentary treatment and treated visitors to cheese, fruit and wine pourings. At Allbirds guests sipped on rosé and were introduced to “the world’s most comfortable shoes” made with natural materials such as merino wool and eucalyptus and its sustainable activewear. Contemporary boutique EVEREVE showcased on-trend fashions that complement women’s busy lifestyles and guests discovered exclusive pieces from some of their favorite brands. During a concert-side reception guests enjoyed CAVA Mediterranean bowls and specialty cocktails by Little Sister. The night culminated with The Point’s “Sounds of Summer” music series featuring the rock-raggae band, The Lucky Ones.

The Maybourne Beverly Hills welcomed in Los Angeles Concierge Association members, Gold Key partners and general sponsors for the LACA's general meeting on Monday, August 22. The Maybourne's Chef Concierge, Barbara Reyes, and her team personally welcomed and escorted each guest to the grand Ballroom for the opening reception and meeting. LACA President Tim DeRodeff recapped previous meetings, membership activities and introduced Board reports. The Maybourne's Hotel Manager, Zachary Lapidus, gave insight into the Maybourne Hotel Group that operates luxury hotels abroad in the United Kingdom dating back more than 200 years, a property in the French Riviera, and its plans to expand globally. Guests then got a tour of the property that included a look at the Presidential Suite reimagined by designer Bryan O'Sullivan of Bryan O'Sullivan Studio with panoramic views of the city; a peek of the lobby bar with a custom cocktail tasting by head mixologist Chris Amirault; and then a preview of the private Cigar and Whiskey Bar. The night concluded with tray passed hors d'oeuvres on the patio of The Terrace and everyone got to take home a gift bag that included small batch hand-crafted tea along with a personal teapot.

Where Traveler and Los Angeles Concierge Association members got an insider's look at SoFi Stadium on Tuesday, August 9 compliments of John Hines of The h.wood Group. A group of concierges and VIP guests were invited by the Marina del Rey Tourism Board to embark on a “three-hour tour” of some old favorites and new hot spots in the Marina on Thursday, July 14. The night began at Fisherman’s Village where Vince Rubino’s Tiki Mermaid provided a light buffet, Champagne, beer and wine. MdR Tourism Board Chief Executive Officer, Janet Zaldua, welcomed the group and introduced Pacific Ocean Management Property Director, Debra Fixen, who updated everyone on new things to come at the seaport. Guests then strolled the harborfront and boarded The Legend yacht with Captain Steve at the helm. On board guests enjoyed cocktails, charcuterie, shrimp and fruit platters and took in the sights while learning about water activities such as sailing, jet skis, kayaks and paddle boarding. The Legend docked near the California Yacht Club where General Manager, Lindsay Pizarro, and Chris Piano greeted guests on the gangway with a specialty cocktail and gift bags and then escorted the group over to the private membership club. Down the promenade guests visited westside favorite, Tony P’s Dockside Grill, and sipped on Mai Tais and grazed on a buffet of calamari, chicken bites, roasted veggies and dips. ProSUP’s Cole Vaughan updated everyone on stand-up paddles, kayak lessons and rentals at Mother’s Beach. The night culminated at the newly renovated SALT at the Marina del Rey Hotel. Guests enjoyed a private outdoor patio party that included tray passed hors d’oeuvres, a private bar, and a host of raffle prizes. Guests took home gift bags filled with Marina del Rey swag and memories of a stellar night under a full moon.

On Monday, June 27, the Los Angeles Concierge Association kicked off the summer with its general meeting at The Lobster in Santa Monica and then guests took a stroll down Ocean Avenue to Stella Barra Pizzeria & Wine Bar on Main Street for a family-style dinner. At The Lobster Event Coordinator, Courtney Jones, hosted concierges and sponsors with seafood samplings including shrimp cocktail and oysters, sushi, crab cakes, sliders and tray passed signature cocktails. Stella Barra Pizzeria in partnership with Hennessy hosted a seated dinner that included an assortment of pizzas, Caesar salad, truffle fries, crispy Brussels sprouts, and a spicy penne alla vodka pasta. Three Hennessy cocktails accompanied the meal and each guest took home a gift bag that included Stella Barra’s famous chocolate chip cookies.

On Wednesday, June 22, 2022, Los Angeles area concierges got a sneak preview of “Revive” at Vibiana in downtown Los Angeles. The evening began in the garden courtyard where acclaimed Chef Neal Fraser presented some of his Modern American cuisine with lobster rolls, Spanish octopus, chicken liver mousse tartelettes, and shrimp & grits. Guests sipped on specialty cocktails highlighting Tequila Herradura, Woodford Reserve Bourbon and No 3 London Dry Gin by Redbird/Vibiana Bar Director Tobin Shea. Live musical entertainment and circus-esque theatrics set the tone before guests entered the former cathedral and were greeted by a singing quartet. Once inside the main hall guests were immersed in Vau de Vire Society’s visual spectacle of aerial gymnastics, dancers, circus performers, musicians and rapid changing projection mapping. After the presentation guests were treated to chocolate and gold macarons, more libations and each guest was gifted a small bottle of The Strongman—one of the specialty cocktails guests enjoyed throughout the evening. “Revive” is definitely a stimulating nightlife experience that’s not to be missed.

On Monday, June 6, the new Mastro's Ocean Club in downtown Los Angeles invited in a group of concierges and hospitality VIPs for a preview of its latest sophisticated seafood and steakhouse. Guests noshed on sushi, steak bites and premium wine pourings before Mastro's Director of Events, Laurence Whiting, introduced guests to the new 350-seat location and showcased its private dining space. An outdoor dining terrace overlooks Crypto.com Arena at L.A. Live. and there's a Piano Lounge with nightly live entertainment. Each guest took home a boxed Mastro's signature Butter Cake.

On Tuesday, May 17, an intimate group of Los Angeles concierges were invited to explore Southern California's premier seaside shopping and dining destination—Malibu Country Mart. Guests were reacquainted with John Varvatos and its collection of
tailored clothing and sportswear. John Varvatos represents an entire men's lifestyle including footwear, bags, belts, eyewear, limited edition watches, men's fragrances, and Converse by John Varvatos. Then French fashion brand, Ba&sh, welcomed in concierges to explore its dream wardrobe for all occasions. Each collection is designed in Paris to exude spontaneous, carefree femininity–with a distinctly Parisian foundation of effortless style. Next was a visit to Malibu Colony Co., a locally owned and operated gift shop with more than 25 years in the Malibu community. Malibu Colony Co. offers gorgeous bedding, home decor, jewelry, candles, gifts and more. Last stop was a visit to Tobi Tobin for the most luxurious line of fresh, hand-made, artisan chocolates, produced locally in Los Angeles. Tobin's candles are inspired by her interior design career and her fragrances tell the story of her early travels around the world as a model. And finally, guests converged on the patio of Taverna Tony for the finest in traditional Greek delicacies. Malibu Country Mart Marketing Director, Mike Feigen, thanked concierges for their time and Malibu Colony Co. held a surprise drawing that went to winner, Laura Strong of the Hotel Bel-Air, who took home two Baccarat wine flutes and a bottle of Champagne.

Los Angeles area concierges were treated to a VIP night at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures on Tuesday, April 26. Guests got to explore the largest U.S. institution dedicated to moviemaking featuring collection highlights such as Dorothy's ruby slippers from "The Wizard of Oz" (1939), and the extraterrestrial headpiece worn in "Alien" (1979). Guests strolled the three-floor exhibition, "Stories of Cinema," that presents the diverse, international and complex stories of moviemakers, the works they create, and the impact their art has on the world. A temporary exhibition, "Hayao Miyazaki," is dedicated to the work of its namesake, the celebrated artist and filmmaker. A private reception in the Museum's Tea Room co-hosted by Wolfgang Puck Catering and Fanny's restaurant gave concierges an opportunity to meet and network with key staff.

Where Traveler + the LACA hosted a hospitality night at Dodger Stadium where the fun kicked off at the exclusive Stadium Club featuring tunes by DJ Miles of Hey Mister DJ and a photo activation by official LA Dodgers event photographer, Blue Print. Guests were treated to an endless spread of upscale food stations and drinks by Levy Catering before they got a behind-the-scenes tour of the team's Trophy Gallery, including the 2020 World Series Trophy, newly renovated centerfield plaza and pavilions, a trip to the press box and down to the field for a group photo. A special Thank You goes to Kristi Schaffter and Kayla Rodiger of the LA Dodgers who made the night a true home run!

The Los Angeles Concierge Association held its first general meeting of the year at Yamashiro in Hollywood on Monday, February 28. President, Tim DeRodeff, kicked off the meeting by reviewing the LACA bylaws and meeting etiquette with the group and introduced its officially elected 2022 Board of Directors. Sponsors had an opportunity to update concierges on their respective business and offerings. The evening concluded with a cocktail reception featuring sushi and other delectable bites.

On Tuesday, November 23, the Los Angeles Concierge Association hosted its Board Elections Meeting at Crustacean Beverly Hills where Hotel Casa Del Mar's, Tim DeRodeff, was elected 2022 LACA President. Guests got a preview of the private dining space, Da Lat Rose, and were treated to signature favorites including Executive Chef Helene An's famous garlic noodles. Concierges and sponsoring members each took home a copy of "Mama An's" most recent cookbook that includes previously "secret" recipes.

The Los Angeles Concierge Association hosted its 2022 Board nominations meeting at the gorgeous Pendry West Hollywood on Monday, October 25. Members were welcomed with a pre-meeting reception and greeted by Pendry General Manager, David Hoffman at the opening of the meeting. LACA members nominated next year's Board and sponsors updated concierges on their latest news and offerings. All guests were treated to a tour of the property that included peeks at Chef Wolfgang Puck's Merois, Ospero and Bar Pendry. Guests also got to explore two posh hotel suites. The evening concluded with a made-to-order pasta station, tray passed desserts and mini facial treatments by Spa Pendry. Each guest took home a parting gift bag.

And we're back... Where Traveler Los Angeles hosted an end-of-summer party for concierges featuring some of the best in food, fashion and skincare at The Point in El Segundo. Little Sister kicked off the night with its essential Vietnamese tastings and cocktails. Guests then explored surfing champion Kelly Slater's sustainable clothing store Outerknown; State & Liberty's perfect "Athletic Fit" dress shirts for men; got an introduction to fashion and styling company Evereve; and were treated to skin and eye treatments at Face Haus. The Point is a South Bay destination you will go back to again and again!
