On the morning of September 11, 2001, Michael Hingson, who is blind, was at work on the 78th floor of the North Tower. At 8:46 a.m., American Airlines Flight 11 struck the building. Amid smoke, fire, and panic, his guide dog Roselle remained composed.
With incredible focus, she helped Michael navigate the narrow, crowded stairwell for nearly an hour. Step by step, they descended through the chaos. Only minutes after they reached safety, the tower collapsed.
