Let's take a walk through picturesque PEGGY'S COVE…
It's a photographer's dream come true, located one scenic hour's drive from Halifax, Nova Scotia. This tiny fishing cove with a year round population of 35 is an artistic attraction of rugged beauty carved by the migration of glaciers and shaped by ocean tides.
Stroll through the quaint colorful village where the deGarthe sculpture that honors Nova Scotia fishermen is hard to miss. It stands outside the Gallery of this Finnish born artist who lived, painted and sculpted here much of his life. In 1963 after its destruction by Hurricane Ginny, deGarthe Gallery was rebuilt and is the home of a 65-piece collection of his work.
An abundance of brightly painted lobster crates are not far from the local shack and food truck selling "don't miss" lobster rolls to hungry tourists. If you're not a lobster fan, take a few more steps to the pinnacle of the walk and arrive at Old style Sou'Wester restaurant established in 1967. It provides a warm family environment typical of Peggy's Cove and popular "don't miss" homemade ginger bread with your favorite topping…
Finally, take the trek over stones to the still working, awe-inspiring Peggy's Point lighthouse, built in 1916, that overlooks St. Margaret's Bay and shines as a beacon of light to those at sea. It recalls the loss of 229 passengers on Swissair Flight 111 that crashed into the ocean off shore in 1998. In classic red and white, it ever stands tall reaffirming hope and peace over both calm and tumultuous seas.
As day turns into night the glistening beauty of Peggy's Cove and lighthouse shine on…

A dear friend reminded me of this truth:
"Man often becomes what he believes himself to be. If I keep on saying to myself that I cannot do a certain thing, it is possible that I may end by really becoming incapable of doing it.
On the contrary, if I have the belief that I can do it, I shall surely acquire the capacity to do it even if I may not have it at the beginning." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

“Nature's first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.”
