Nobody’s Touching Jordan’s 3,041 Points. Not Even Close
Thirty-eight years ago, Michael Jordan set the modern single-season scoring record with an astounding 3,041 points during the 1986-87 season. Since then, no one has come close.
Here are the closest challengers:
- Michael Jordan (1987-88): 2,868 points
- Kobe Bryant (2005-06): 2,832 points
- James Harden (2018-19): 2,818 points
To break MJ’s record, a player would need to:
- Play all 82 games
- Average 37.1 points per game for an entire season
Jordan’s dominance that year:
37.1 PTS | 5.2 REB | 4.6 AST | 2.9 STL | 1.5 BLK
With today’s era of load management and different play styles, this record is truly untouchable.
