6 TCM Ingredients for Beginners 🌼

These are the ones I’d start with, they’re all steeping herbs, no simmering or soaking needed!

🌼 Red dates
🌼 Chrysanthemum
🌼 Goji berries
🌼 Ginger
🌼 Rose
🌼 Dried longan

TCM is really about matching things to your body and your constitution, so think of this as a starting point, not a rulebook. The classic pairing is goji and red dates, and I’ll be sharing more combinations soon.

Most of these are from Clear Source Herbs and they’re either certified organic or lot-tested, traceable all the way back to where they were grown, which matters a lot with herbs.

ROSE & CARDAMOM Chia Seed Pudding

I use rose in so much of what I make…toners, oils, and teas so it was only a matter of time before it ended up in a dessert!

Chia seeds are one of the best sources of omega-3s you can get from a plant, and those fats are what help your skin hold onto moisture and keep the barrier strong. Rose is rich in vitamin C, which your body needs to actually make collagen. Blueberries are among the most antioxidant-dense fruits there is, and the yogurt brings probiotics, which matters because so much of what shows up on your skin starts in your gut.

So it’s sweet and creamy and feels like a treat, but it’s fiber, protein, healthy fat and antioxidants underneath. No refined sugar, just a little maple.

Makes 2:

• 3 tbsp chia seeds
• 1 tsp rose powder
• 1 cup coconut milk
• 2-3 tbsp full-fat coconut cream
• 1-2 tsp maple syrup
• Pinch of salt
• 1 cup blueberries, cooked down with a squeeze of lemon
• Greek or coconut yogurt to top

Top with rose powder and cardamom ✨

Stir, wait 5 minutes, stir again so it doesn’t clump, then set overnight. Keeps about 4 days.

Save this for the next time you’re craving something sweet 🌹

Beach day snack plate, and this one’s basically skincare 🐟

Sardines are one of the most nutrient-dense foods you can eat…they’re loaded with omega-3s for a strong skin barrier, packed with protein for collagen, and rich in vitamin D, B12, calcium, and selenium, which support everything from your skin to your bones to your energy. Little tin, hugeeee payoff.

Here’s the rest of what’s on my balanced, mostly-skin-loving plate 🤍

🥚 Egg — biotin, zinc, and vitamin A for skin repair
⚫ Black & white sesame — vitamin E and zinc for glow
🍅 My Garden Tomatoes — lycopene and vitamin C to protect and brighten skin
🫒 Olives — vitamin E and healthy fats
🌰 Walnuts — omega-3s to nourish and reduce inflammation
🧅 Red onion — quercetin and vitamin C for collagen
🥬 Sauerkraut — probiotics for that gut-skin connection
🌿 Dill — antioxidants and a little freshness

And a little cheese, just for joy, because a good plate is all about balance 🧀

here’s my favorite way to feed my skin 🥕✨

THE SALAD:
• 5 medium carrots
• 1 cup edamame
• 3 green onions, sliced
• 1 avocado
• sesame seeds
• crispy chilli oil

THE DRESSING:
• 3 tbsp soy sauce
• 2 tbsp rice vinegar
• 1 tbsp sesame oil
• fresh lime juice
• 1 tbsp minced ginger
• 1-2 minced garlic cloves
• ½ tsp honey

toss everything, massage it together, top with chilli oil and you’re done. this is what i pair with my skincare routine. your products can only do so much if you’re not nourishing from within. the fat from the avocado + sesame oil helps your body absorb the beta-carotene. skincare inside AND out 💅

save this one! you’ll be making it on repeat 🙌

Three ingredients. No streaks. Homemade glass + mirror cleaner:
1½ cups distilled water (makes the biggest difference - no mineral spots)
1 cup white vinegar
2 tbsp rubbing alcohol - 70% is perfect because it dries evenly for that streak-free finish.
(If you’ve got 90%, use a little less it evaporates faster.)
Optional: a few drops of lemon or peppermint oil 🍋🌿

Vinegar cuts buildup, alcohol speeds dry time, and distilled water keeps glass spotless. 💧

You can turn milk into pudding with nothing but fresh ginger. No gelatin or eggs needed, just a wild little kitchen reaction. It’s a traditional Cantonese dessert I grew up having, and ginger is warming and soothing for digestion!

Here’s how:
🥄 Grate fresh ginger and strain out about 1 tbsp of juice into a bowl
🥛 Heat whole full-fat milk with a little rock sugar to around 170°F
🌀 Stir the ginger juice right before pouring (the enzyme settles at the bottom!)
☕ Pour the hot milk over the ginger, don’t stir, cover, and let it set for 10 min

The key: your ginger HAS to be fresh. The enzyme that sets the milk weakens in old ginger, so fresh, juicy ginger is what makes the whole reaction happen. And don’t skip the thermometer, too hot or too cool and it won’t set.

Warm or chilled, it’s so good 🤍

Some bottles are just too pretty to toss 💕
The razor scraper is definitely the ideal here - but I had to improvise with a utility knife this time. And for those asking, this beautiful bottle is repurposed from a belly oil I used when I was pregnant. Gotta love when good design gets a second life.
