Chronos Productions and Studio is about transforming the way we experience history through the application of Virtual Reality for both on-site (you will be able to emotionally experience and see what happened at the site of historical events instead of reading a dusty old bronze plaque) and in the classroom (students will use their smartphones to travel back in time to experience the past in a ful
ly immersive 360 degree world instead of being distracted with social media). Our goal is to secure capital for building a green screen studio dedicated to these historical VR productions here in southern arizona. Then commence with non-stop productions of our most important historical events to engage the next generation in history. PRESS RELEASE:
Imagine using your mobile device to travel backward in time to experience an historical event in the precise location where it occurred. This opportunity is what Chronos Productions, a Tucson company, is creating. Employing augmented reality technology, local producers Matt Wolf (a graduate of the American Film Institute),Tony Ford, (founder of Maker House) and Christian Caballero (founder Sparc interactive) pioneering a new way of experiencing the past. By using a mobile device (smart phone, IPad and optical viewers) to scan a QR code, participants present at the site of a historical event will be embedded in the event, able to witness it taking place around them in every direction. The initial project, now in production, is the killing of outlaw Frank Stilwell, a crony of the notorious Clanton gang, by Wyatt Earp and his posse in downtown Tucson. Unlike a Hollywood film, this new technology will offer the viewer the opportunity to observe the event from multiple perspectives. This production will offer the viewpoints of four actual witnesses to the shooting, and viewers will share the actual perspectives of those onlookers, will see what they saw from the locations and perspectives from which they observed the fatal incident. Participants may be presented with contradictory views and information, just as in real life, inviting the participants to interpret what they see and engage with others in thoughtful evaluation of the experience. It is hoped that by launching the project here in Tucson, the city will come to be recognized as a venue capable of providing next generation immersive experiences and thus help revitalize Tucson as a major location for augmented reality film production.Tony, Matt and Christian plan to bring the same experience to sites of major historical events across the nation, such as The Shootout at the OK Corral the signing of the Declaration of Independence, , Geronimo, Gettysburg Address, the Lincoln assassination, Yorktown and the surrender of Cornwallis, The Boston Tea Party, The Capture of John Dillinger the Witch Trial at Salem, Grant and Lee at Appomattox the Attack on Pearl Harbor, Paul Revere’s Ride, The Scopes Trial, Completion of the First Transcontinental Railroad and the Emancipation Proclamation are just a sample of what is to come.
