👀 That $500,000 Vandalia Railroad Park grant is even bigger than it sounds.

We did a little digging into the Rual R. Morris Charitable Foundation’s public tax records, and this is pretty interesting.

According to its 2024 IRS Form 990-PF data, the foundation reported:

💰 About $1.6 MILLION in total assets
💰 About $107,000 in total distributions for the year
📄 Its reported 2024 grants ranged from $25,000 to $80,000.

For a little more perspective, other recent publicly reported grants from the foundation include $10,000 to Handi-Shop, $10,000 to the Mexico Area YMCA, and a reported $65,000 to a historical society.

And now…

🚨 $500,000 for Vandalia Railroad Park.

That’s nearly 5 TIMES what the foundation distributed during the entire 2024 tax year and about 31% of the assets it reported at the end of 2024.

To be clear: we haven’t found anything suggesting there’s anything wrong with the grant. Quite the opposite—the foundation’s own tax filing says its grants are intended primarily to benefit the citizens of Vandalia and Audrain County.

But compared to its recent publicly reported giving?

This is a MASSIVE grant.

So now we’re REALLY curious what $500,000 worth of renovations at Railroad Park is going to look like. 👀

PIKE COUNTY — GO CHECK YOUR FLOAT TRIP CRAP. 👀💰

Somebody bought a $3 MILLION winning Mega Millions ticket in Mountain View, Missouri… and apparently still hasn’t claimed it.

And before you say, “That’s way down south…”

UM. HELLO. That is FLOATING territory. 😂

It’s summer. It’s Missouri. Half of Pike County has probably been south at some point with a cooler, a kayak and questionable decision-making skills.

So now we need to know:

🚨 SAWYER’S CREEK IS BACK! 🚨

Welllll… this was a surprise. 👀

Sawyer’s Creek Fun Park in Hannibal quietly opened its gates yesterday for a SOFT OPENING!

They say renovations are still underway, but they couldn’t wait any longer to start letting people in.

From the photos we can definitely see mini golf and bumper boats — but judging by the comments, everybody has the same questions we do:

👀 What all is open right now?
💰 What are the prices?
🍔 Is there food?
🎯 What other games/attractions are running?
👨‍👩‍👧 Is it mostly for kids, or did they bring back some of that old-school Sawyer’s Creek fun for the grown folks too?
