The before and after!😂🫎

Right outside our campground, we were treated to quite a show by this big ol’ bull elk. You can hear the van idling in the video because I was taking cover behind the front of the van, with the driver’s side door open and ready to bolt for cover if necessary. 😂

He put on an impressive show, but I can’t even begin to express to you the size of this guy. Massive!

After seeing him up close, I was inspired to try something a little different for dinner that night and decided to give elk meatloaf a try.

Now you know why I called this the before and after.😂

And let me tell you, it was the most delicious meal I had in Canada! So yummy! The elk meatloaf was paired with smoky broccolini and yam purée, and the combination was absolutely incredible.

If you’re in the Jasper area in Alberta, Canada, swing by Jasper Brewing Company for an excellent meal and equally wonderful service.

The elk continued to show up in and immediately around Wapiti Campground in Jasper National Park. 🫎🇨🇦

Here’s a big ol’ bull elk we caught right outside the campground as we came off the Icefields Parkway. He put on quite a show!

Sorry for the van idling you can hear in the background, but I was taking cover behind the van with the driver’s side door open, ready to bolt if I needed to. 😂

Definitely one of those wildlife encounters you don’t forget! 🫎🏔️

The crown jewel of Jasper National Park in Alberta, Canada. 💙🏔️

When visiting Jasper National Park, getting out on the water at Maligne Lake should be at the top of your list. If seeing Spirit Island is something you can’t miss, and really you shouldn’t, then a boat cruise may be the best way to experience it.

If you’re a strong kayaker, you could venture out for an all-day adventure. Paddling to Spirit Island and back is roughly 17 miles round trip, so be prepared for a full day on the water!

Whichever way you choose to experience Maligne Lake, it’s an experience you won’t want to miss.

When you’re finished, stop by the Waffle Hut for a sweet or savory treat. The portions are generous enough to split between two people! 🧇

One of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen in my life. ❤️

Tucked away in the back of Maligne Lake in Jasper National Park, Spirit Island feels like something out of a dream. We had the opportunity to get off the boat and walk the short trail to experience its beauty up close, with an incredible mountain range looming behind it.

The cloud cover and brisk temperatures added a little mystery to the experience, making the whole scene feel even more magical. We were so thankful for the gift of exploration, and for the timing, because as soon as we boarded the boat to leave, it began to rain. 🌧️

Some places make you want to linger, breathe in the air, and soak in the beauty. This is definitely one of those places.

I’ve already scoped out the nearby campgrounds, because I’ll be coming back to explore more of this incredible area next year. 🏔️❤️

You can take the girl out of SoCal, but you can’t take the SoCal outta the girl! ☀️😎

It may be chilly outside, but it’s still sandal weather! 😂🩴

Closed toe shoes make me grumpy. 😡

Anyone who has owned a camper knows the black tank level indicator is rarely correct. “Debris” gets caught in the tank, and after the first use, you’re lucky if it ever reads correctly again. 😂

Well, let me tell you… Pleasure-Way tank indicators are MAGIC. Every time you dump, they read empty—and there’s not even a black tank flush!

So, the day before yesterday, when my black tank suddenly said FULL, I naturally assumed it couldn’t possibly be right. The fresh water tank was still reading full, so clearly the black tank indicator was just doing its usual thing and was lying. 🤷‍♀️

Early that morning, I went into the bathroom and came back out. A little while later, my friend Amy came out of the bathroom and asked, “You didn’t flush?”

She thought I had used the bathroom and forgotten to flush. Honestly, I felt pretty bad! 🤮 I apologized and told her to go ahead and flush.

A few minutes later, she came back out.

“It’s not going down.”

Uh-oh.

Did I clog the toilet?! 😳

I went into the bathroom and tried to flush it myself and in fact, the toilet only filled up MORE.

That’s when I realized…

OH MY GOSH. THE BLACK TANK IS ACTUALLY FULL.😳🤮

Now I had to somehow make it to the dump station with a toilet full of brown water that was about three-quarters of the way to the top. The dump station was a mile down the road from the campground.

Let me just say, that was some PRECISION DRIVING.😂 Not a single slosh of black tank water made it onto that bathroom floor. We made it to the dump station. Crisis averted. 🙌

Once the adrenaline wore off, I started thinking about what had happened.

And then I realized…I hadn’t dumped the black tank since Oregon and at that point, we had already been in Canada for a week and a half. 🤦‍♀️😂

So apparently, Pleasure-Way products really ARE built that well—and apparently, when a Pleasure-Way black tank indicator says FULL, you should probably believe it.😂🚐💩

The colors of Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada! 🇨🇦🏔️🍂

I’ve seen the aspens in full color in the High Sierra during fall, and I thought I had already seen the bluest of blues in those mountain lakes. Then I saw this yesterday. 💙

I have never witnessed a lake this beautiful. The pines, the water, the mountains—it was absolutely awe-inspiring. My words and pictures will fail to do it justice. ❤️

Can’t wait to share footage and pics.
