Hello and Welcome to the Official page for the Flashfire comic book created and written by Mathew Blake Becker. This comic follows the lives and adventures of Flashfire and his teammates Permafrost, Armory, Gravatara, and Pulsar. as they deal with problems of life while living the lives as public superheroes. This comic has no special story, goal, or mission, and its unremarkable nature m
akes it remarkable in its own right. Flashfire is a classic superhero comic, not really having a defined end or ultimate evil to defeat. It is simply superheroes doing superhero things while dealing with everyday social lives, romantic lives, and public and private lives. some unique aspects of this comic are.
1) Even though it is a hero Team the team does not form instantly or during a single cataclysmic event like typical hero teams are formed (JL, Avengers, Teen Titans, Guardians of the Galaxy) instead the main character Flashfire starts out as a solo hero and over time the other team members join on in stages.
2) All of the members are Public heroes. Meaning they do not have secret identities yet they are not celebrities either. this is a unique type of superheroes that is rarely used in normal comics.
3) Character interaction is a main focus- while each issue or story arc has the big, superhero fights and clever ways of saving the day, majority of time in the comic focuses on the daily lives and casual interactions between character. it is not a "super-villain of the week" type comic, it is a long form novel spread over many many issues of comic book whose character happen to be superheroes.
4) super-Diversity- this comic has many characters, stories, and interactions that deal with many modern social issues. some of these include, Armory being Bi-racial and part of an in*******al family, the relationship of Gravatara and, Blaine's best friend, Emily Drake in a same-sex relationship (or as i like to call them relationships) and various cultural and religious issues. this is not a comic for the easily offended.
5) frequent continuity, time and dimension/reality jumps- the Flashfire comic will make frequent use of various forms of multi-verse theory including variations of multi-world, branch, and bubble theory. many other comics do one or two alternate story lines or crossover events but not enough to make full use of the possibilities that can occur when "worlds collide", Flashfire will explore this to it a great extent make for some intriguing story lines and story arcs. Overall this is a comic that is a rethink and revive of the classic superhero comic, that harkens back to the time where comics where a story and a narrative and not a commercialized product.
