This is a hard post to write. Last night, texted me saying that Jinx had wet herself and was very lethargic. When I got home, Sev had given her a bath because she had went all over herself. I tried to see if she would eat or drink anything, and she isn't interested in anything.
We took her to the vet today and the vet thinks something neurological happened because she isn't reacting to anything by sight. So they think she is blind. Her temperature was also 97, which is low for cats. She also weighed only ten pounds, which is down from the 14 she weighed last time we were at the vet.
The vet told us she was critically ill and that we have to start thinking about making some hard decisions.
While it breaks our hearts, we have made the decision to let Jinx go. We have brought her home tonight so that Sev and the boys can say their goodbyes and have some time with her, and tomorrow we will take her to cross the rainbow bridge.
Jinx had been doing pretty good since the last health scare. She had gotten back to herself, was playing and running through the house. She seemed like she was doing really good. But something has happened to her in the past couple of days that have had us concerned. We aren't sure if she had a seizure or something, but she certainly acts like she can't see anything.
We have had Jinx for just over 10 years. She picked us at Louisville Metro Animal Services not long after Apollo died. She's had the best life, even if she has been a little s**t and chewed up my charger cords and been a little pest at times.
This is the price we pay for unconditional love. I'm sure we will get another fur baby in time, but this one is going to hurt for a bit. It almost feels like Apollo all over again. Apollo got sick suddenly too at about 10 years old, and we had to make a hard choice then.
Here's a picture of me and my girl. She was always Daddy's buddy.
