YouTube Just Dropped Major Global Updates!

If you're a creator, here’s what you need to know:

1. View Count Changes for Shorts:
Starting March 31, 2025, YouTube Shorts will count a view every time the video starts or loops—regardless of how long it’s watched. This new system applies worldwide and aligns YouTube with platforms like TikTok and Instagram. More views, more reach!

2. Easier Monetization Requirements:
Now you can monetize your channel with just 500 subscribers (down from 1,000)! This update is rolling out globally, giving new creators a head start on their content journey.

3. Mandatory AI Content Labels:
All creators must now label AI-generated content to prevent misinformation and impersonation. This policy is global and non-compliance could lead to removal of content or demonetization.

If you are just starting on social media for your business you have already been thinking about the type of content you want to create and who you are creating it for. Why are you creating it for them? What value will it provide to them?

If you are in the planning phase make sure you know who your target audience is and the types of content they enjoy or what they are looking for. What social media platforms will they be on? Come up with a content strategy that will create engagement, and even encourages that target demographic to share your content.

Once you have a strategy it is time to begin executing. Pay attention to trends in your industries and try them out. Don’t be afraid to try new things that your audience might enjoy. You never know what might catch on and go viral.

This quote really struck me today. Many believe when you are thinking of starting something you have to have all of the high end things to do it right and be successful but that isn’t usually true.

Identify what you absolutely need and start off strong. Make a plan and don’t stretch yourself too thin. Master one thing at a time and add onto it.

For instance if you have a business and you are just getting started with social media focus on one or two platforms. Learn how those platforms work the best and once you know that like the back of your hand decide if you want/need to branch out to other platforms. Sometimes all you need is to crush it on a single platform to be successful.
