Good morning, !
The is upon us and the will begin to start falling early afternoon and really intensifying during the evening and overnight hours with 2-3”/hr snowfall rates, strong winds/gust creating blizzard & whiteout conditions.
The NWS has much of New Jersey over 15” of now with areas near the coast over 25”!
The meso models (HRRR) still showing a tremendous amount of snow heading our way with blizzard conditions.
This will be a dangerous storm with the heavy wet snow & strong winds, which will lead to power outages. Coastal sections will be looking at moderate - major coastal flooding.

Good evening, ! I know I haven’t been around much but who’s ready for the !?

The latest (00z) HRRR, is depicting 2-3”/hr, potential near the coast, powerful wind gusts and a tremendous amount of . I think the HRRR is a bit overdone on the snow but if there is a long setup of banding along the coast, an isolated 30” would be on the table but I good swath of 12-18+ is on the table for a large portion of New Jersey.

This snow will also be heavy with ratios between 8-10:1 so this will be very compacted snow and not easy on the back. Along with the strong winds & wet snow hanging on objects, there is real concern of power outages across the state. Along the coast, we have the high threat of moderate - major costal flooding with the northeast east winds.

Latest update from US National Weather Service Philadelphia/Mount Holly for late tonight - tomorrow mornings projected snow totals. They did upgrade PHL metro to a Winter Storm Warning through 1pm Sunday.

The heaviest snowfall will be during the overnight hours into the early morning before exiting around 10am Sunday morning.

Good morning, New Jersey. The US National Weather Service Philadelphia/Mount Holly has updated its snowfall projections for a brief snow event commencing this evening and persisting through Sunday morning. A general accumulation of 3-6 inches is anticipated in Central and Southern New Jersey. Winter Weather Advisories will become effective at 7:00 pm this evening.

Lately, I’ve been seeing a lot of debate around Artificial Intelligence—especially when it comes to weather forecasting. Some people are excited about its potential, while others are unsure or even opposed to the idea. As someone who loves observing weather and diving into data, it got me thinking…
How would AI compare to experienced meteorologists when forecasting winter storms for New Jersey?
So this winter, I’m planning a little experiment. For each upcoming winter storm, I’ll feed the same information into a few different AI models and record each forecast. Then I’ll compare those results to the forecasts made by our trusted local professionals.
This isn’t about replacing forecasters or proving one right or wrong—this is purely an educational project driven by curiosity. I want to see how close (or far) AI predictions come, where it excels, where it struggles, and how the two approaches differ.

The US National Weather Service Philadelphia/Mount Holly has issued a Winter Storm Watch for Central - Southern New Jersey (Blue shaded area). This is for the upcoming Tuesday night into Wednesday morning storm.

Good afternoon, New Jersey! A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for much of the state as we prepare for a nasty mix of snow, ice, and rain. Much of the PHL Metro will be dealing with the icy mix while Northern NJ will be dealing with more snowfall.
Be extra cautious if you are out on the roads this evening, it doesn’t take much freezing rain/sleet to cause hazardous road conditions.
