Getting a hair cut doesn’t actually make it grow faster.
Hair growth happens at the root, underneath the skin not at the ends .

So while a trim won’t speed up the growing process, it can help prevent those split ends from traveling farther up the hair and keep your ends looking fuller and healthier!

Feel free to share this news with your friends, I can’t tell you how many times I still hear people say that keeping your hair cut regularly makes it grow faster 🤷‍♀️.

Now surely y’all didn’t really think I was just gonna sit there and let Tawnya Kriss Austincut her own hair in my salon chair! 😳😂
Y’all should know me better than that!

What we actually did was
add some toner to take away the brassiness and add just enough color

We took it a little shorter

and give her some bangs.

Can you believe the difference those few small changes made?
Sometimes it doesn’t take a major makeover sometimes just the right refresh does the job 💕

Dolly Taught Us

Dolly taught a generation of hairstylists that it was never really about the hair.

It was about how a woman felt when she looked in the mirror.

The big hair. The blonde. The volume. The sparkle. The unapologetic femininity. None of it was accidental, but none of it was the point, either.

Dolly understood something that every great hairstylist eventually learns:

Hair is a language.

Sometimes it says I’m confident.
Sometimes it says I’m starting over.
Sometimes it says I’m finally letting myself be seen.
Sometimes it simply says I want to feel beautiful today.

Dolly never made women feel like they needed to be less.

Less loud.
Less feminine.
Less glamorous.
Less themselves.

She showed us that there is something incredibly powerful about giving a woman permission to take up space and helping her create an outside that feels a little more like the woman she knows herself to be on the inside.

That’s the part of Dolly’s legacy I carry behind the chair.

Because after 30 years of doing hair, I know this much:

It was never about the hair.

It’s always been about the woman wearing it.

As I was leaving for vacation, my carry-on got pulled to the side for an extra inspection. 😳 Apparently I had TWO items they thought were oversized.

First one , sunscreen. I was like, “Throw it away. I’ll buy more when I get there.” 😂

Then he pulled out my AMIKA DRY SHAMPOO. Y’all , now we have a problem. 😂 I was already thinking I might have to go back through security just so I could put that baby in my checked bag! Priorities, people! 🤣

Luckily, it ended up being the right size and my dry shampoo got to go on vacation too. 🙌🏼😂

But it made me wonder , what’s the ONE thing in your bag that you would NOT be willing to let TSA throw away? ✈️🧳
