The Chicago Manual of Style is the essential and most important book for editing fiction. Same with the Merriam-Webster Dictionary. Here are some of the other books that I find useful from time to time.

It's been a busy week. I had the privilege of doing a dev edit for a seasoned author on a novel that was written many years ago, but never published. The setting is a steampunk world. It is going to be a fun novel after the pacing issues are resolved and some detail is added in spots. I look forward to reading and editing the final version after revisions are complete.

One of the two awards that I received that night.

Tonight I won two awards from the Florida Authors and Publishers Association. A silver medal for the Noncorporeal anthology that I selected stories for and edited. I also won a bronze medal for a book I wrote with my husband Kevin A Davis. Two of my clients also won awards for books that I edited for them. It was an amazing night.
