Those that have known me for a while, know that the one thing that my birth state has given me is a love of racing.. Indy and open wheel racing in particular... I have seen some of the best of the best race when I was a kid... Bryan Clauson was one driver from my birth state that I never got the chance to see race in person, but he was a generational talent.. This kid had raced every kind of car you can think of... Cut from the same cloth as some of my favorite drivers like Tony Stewart (who was his boss for a while), AJ Foyt, the Unsers, Gary Bettenhausen, and Pancho Carter... They all could drive the wheels off of anything and win... 10yrs ago tonite, Bryan was on a personal quest to run 200 races in a season.... A Herculean effort for any driver... He was on his way when crashed his midget at the Belleville High Banks in Kansas.. He was immediately airlifted to a Trauma Center in critical condition... He would never recover... But what he did in death was save 5 lives and countless others recover through his organ and tissue donation.. As a lifelong fan, every driver death hits me hard... This was one was no exception he had a promising future ahead. As a Paramedic, I know the importance of organ and tissue donation... I am an organ and tissue donor... I have seen first hand the toll that failing organs, and burns can take on a body... If I can help just one person recover, I will. It is a very personal choice, and I respect that choice... Bryan's legacy will not only live in the folks who watched him race, but more importantly in the people he saved... If you have ever considered being a donor, please do!! If not, you can donate to the foundation Bryan's family set up in his honor.... RIP BC39
