Looks like possible storms this afternoon. Stay weather aware.

Storms are expected to develop during the hottest part of the afternoon, mainly south of I-20, and continue into the early evening. Very unstable conditions will support a few severe storms capable of producing damaging wind gusts, especially in the 2 pm to 9 pm time frame. Persons planning outdoor activities should keep this storm threat in mind, especially if venturing away from safe shelter.

Most of the state is under a heat advisory through the rest of the week. High temperatures could reach the mid- to upper 90s, with heat indices as high as 110 in some places.

Be Prepared:

• Limit prolonged outdoor activity, especially during the hottest parts of the day.
• Drink plenty of water and stay hydrated.
• Know the signs of heat illness and take action if you or someone else begins feeling sick.
• Never leave children, older adults, or pets in a vehicle.

If you must be outside, take frequent breaks in a cool or shaded place and check on family, friends, and neighbors.
