Has it really been 60 years?

It was way back in 1964 that Pat McGovern and a handful of employees started IDG in an office over a Chinese restaurant. Thanks to Pat’s vision and hard work by lots of smart people over the years, a lot of people today can call themselves IDG alumni.

IDG’s success also enabled Pat and Lore to realize the dream of the Institute For Brain Research. To celebrate, the Institute will be the site of a get-together at its Cambridge headquarters on April
19 from 6PM to 9PM.

This is an IDG Alumni-funded event, so attendance is free, but registration is required. IDG and IDC Alumni - US and International are welcome. Beer, wine and light hors d'oeuvres will be served. Dress is Cocktail Attire. One ticket per Alumni as capacity is limited.

I'm trying to track down a picture of the old Inforworld Labs ad campaign that has a picture of "Our Lab" with people in lab coats...and "Their Lab" with a picture of a Labrador Retriever. Anyone have one in their archives ?

A moving and inspiring memorial for Pat McGovern today at the Boston Museum of Science. Despite the circumstances it was wonderful to see so many generations of IDG'ers from around the world gather to pay tribute to our friend and mentor. As Lore Harp McGovern and Pat Jr. said in their eulogies, one could feel PJM's contagious energy in the room despite that he had a "previous engagement keeping him from attending".

Pat McGovern Celebration of Life Ceremony Announced

Dear Colleagues & Alumni,

A service for the IDG/IDC community to celebrate Pat McGovern's life will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 from 11:00AM - 2:00PM at the Museum of Science in Boston. The service will include an hour long program followed by refreshments.

For employees unable to attend the service, or who prefer to view it remotely, the program will be videotaped and live streamed on IDG Central.

To facilitate planning, we ask that employees who plan on attending the service in Boston please RSVP at: http://memorial.idg.com/

Framingham employees may board shuttle buses departing from 5 Speen Street and 492 Old Connecticut Path at 9:45AM on Wednesday, April 30th. Buses will begin returning to Framingham immediately after the program and continue until 2:00PM.

The Museum of Science is also accessible by car, taxi and public transit from Boston and Cambridge.

IDGers everywhere are mourning the passing of Pat McGovern, the beloved founder and chairman of IDG.

Patrick J. McGovern, who became a billionaire as founder and majority owner of Boston-based technology publisher International Data Group, has died. He was 76.
