🇺🇸 July in Maitland brought summer fun, hometown pride and a new issue filled with the people and stories that make our community special.

At the heart of this month’s issue is the Lalchandani family, who did more than build a beautiful home near Lake Sybelia. Dara, Patrick and their daughter, Presley, chose Maitland as the place to plant roots, create traditions and build their family’s next chapter.

A special thank-you to Christina Lee of Luna Mia Artistry for beautifully capturing their family and home for this month’s cover story!

June in Maitland feels like summer, family, and the halfway point of a year already full of good stories.

In our June issue of Maitland Neighbors, we were honored to feature the Isola family — a beautiful multi-generational Maitland story about faith, family culture, music, tradition, and staying close in the town they’ve long called home. What Joe and Vicki Isola built is more than a family tree. It is a legacy still growing right here in Maitland.

Also featured in this issue:

🌿 Farah Downs shared insight on what to look for when smart kids struggle and how clarity can help children thrive at home, in school, and in life. Maitland Mental Health Co.

🌿 Asbury Early Learning Center opened its doors to the heart behind its preschool ministry and the way it continues growing hearts and minds in Maitland. Asbury Early Learning Center

🌿 Dr. Marisa Chanin explained how nutrition plays an important role in a child’s dental health and lifelong healthy smiles. Pediatric Dentistry of Central Florida - Maitland

🌿 Dr. Sean Olenek highlighted how hyperbaric oxygen therapy is being used to support brain health, recovery, and mental performance. Insight Chiropractic Health and Wellness Center

🌿 Amy Rahill-Blake explored the shift from anti-aging to longevity and why wellness is becoming more about vitality, strength, and quality of life. Aluma Wellness

Thank you to the families, experts, schools, businesses, and neighbors who help make Maitland Neighbors feel like Maitland.

Google did not create the trust.

Google captured the demand.

That is the part of ROI targeting that a lot of business owners miss.

Someone may see your name in the neighborhood, hear about you from a friend, notice your ad, pass your sponsorship sign, see your post online, and slowly start to recognize you.

Then one day, the need becomes real.

They go to Google.
They search for the service.
Your name appears.
They click.

When you ask how they found you, they say, “Google.”

And technically, they are right.
But the trust was built before the search ever happened.
That is why real marketing ROI is not just about who clicked today.

It is about who already trusted you when they did.

With the school year coming to an end, we asked Maitland seniors to look back and share about the teachers who made a lasting impact.

Some taught lessons. Some gave confidence. Some simply kept showing up in the way a student needed most.

To all of the educators in our community, thank you for the work you do and the difference you make every day. 🍎

In our April 2026 issue of Maitland Neighbors, we were proud to feature Athena Roasted Chicken, a local favorite with a story that started all the way back in Cyprus.

Owner Andreas Afxendiou shared how the idea for Athena began in 1985 after a memorable meal of rotisserie chicken, roasted potatoes, and salad in Limassol. Years later, that simple idea grew into the Maitland restaurant so many neighbors know and love today.

Athena has stayed true to what has made it special from the beginning: quality food, friendly service, and great value. From hormone-free, never frozen chicken to fresh salads, vegetables, vegetarian and gluten-free options, and catering for groups, Athena continues to serve Maitland with the feel of a true mom-and-pop restaurant.

Thank Athena Roasted Chicken, for being part of the Maitland community and for letting us share your story in Maitland Neighbors!

Did you know the brick path around Lake Lily is more than just a beautiful place to walk?

This route was once the first direct road from Northeast Florida to Maitland, following what is now Lake Lily Drive and continuing south toward present-day 17/92. During the Second Seminole War, the U.S. Army used this trail to connect forts along the route, including Fort Maitland, built in 1838.

Then, in 1915, Orange County paved the route with bricks, making it Florida’s first grouted brick road. It later became part of the Dixie Highway, helping connect travelers all the way from Michigan to Miami.

So the next time you walk around Lake Lily, remember: you are stepping along a piece of Maitland history.
