New Henderson County Fire Marshal Laura Good was sworn in Tuesday morning by County Judge Wade McKinney. The County's new fire marshal is a Master Fire Investigator, Master Fire Inspector, and Master Peace Officer. She retired from the Tyler Fire Department as an Assistant Fire Marshal.

ARTIC COLDFRONT STILL ON TRACK TO ARRIVE LATE TONIGHT: With that being said, light snow is possible Monday night into Tuesday as an upper disturbance moves overhead. Most areas will see little to no accumulations, but around half and inch is expected across southern parts of Central Texas, where a few slick spots may develop on bridges.

Fire is fast! Once a smoke alarm sounds, you could have less than 2 minutes to leave safely. Working smoke alarms give you early warning so you can make it out quickly. This Fire Prevention Week, we encourage you to test your smoke alarm and replace it if it does not respond.

Fire Prevention Week is October 6-12, 2024. We are sharing information from the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) to remind everyone about making smoke alarms work for you.

Tonight, MVFD was dispatch to the most stereotypical call a fire department can be called to, a cat 🐈 stuck in a tree. Everything worked out purrrrfect and the homeowners were very happy to be reunited with their cat.
