🤭 I can’t share the front of this quilt just yet - as it’s a gift for someone on Monday!!! Until the grand reveal, any ideas what the front of this baby quilt is?!

🤫 Hint - it’s for one of my Canadian coworkers - I’ve been designing and working on this quilt since May when she told me she was pregnant!

PART 8 | THE FINISHED QUILT!

I’ll film an entire tutorial on how to create and attach binding to a quilt, but for now this golden retriever appliqué baby quilt is complete!! A labor of love and creativity for a dear friend and her baby who I love so much!! 💛

PART 7 | Quilting the topper, batting and backing all together! I upgraded from my trustee sewing machine to a CS7205 quilting machine and was so impressed!!

🗣️ “Finished is better than perfect!!!” There were some hiccups, a couple bunches, and a few unevenly spaced top stitches but that’s what makes it homemade…and not perfectly finished with a long arm machine!

PART 6 | Close-up look of the stitching around the appliqué golden retriever dog to finish the quilt top! Then I attached the quilt top to the batting and backing using basting spray. UP NEXT… Quilting!!!

PART 5 | Officially ironing down the appliqué and using a zig zag top stitch to secure it in place all the way around to finish the quilt top!

PART 4 | Full send on cutting out every dog hair details, and attaching Heat-N-Bond to the final appliqué to prepare to attach it to the background!

Tip: I wish I would have attached the heat and bond to the foreground in a general large area where it would’ve been cut out - this would’ve saved me time when having to attach it around the hair details and not having it stick to my iron or the table.

PART 3 | Tracing & Cutting the Golden Retriever foreground for the baby quilt!

Helpful tip: I added a red line to the middle of the golden retriever shape on canva that way when I projected it I lined that line up with the seams so I knew it was straight!
