This is our latest project by Blue River Studios & Mephobia Media a horror/thriller called Utopians, which is normally not my bag. I tend to focus on biopics, documentaries, reality tv series, but I really wanted to direct a horror film!
There's a lot of scary kiddos in this story haha. Characters created by me along with the general concept of the story, but I brought in a script writer to tighten up the story and take the script to the next level.
I'm getting to the point where I'd like to produce less and less, and instead would like to direct more films/series, which I'm starting to prefer, along with directing high end commercials.
We have some great projects in the pipeline at various stages, including Paper Daughters, Red Fear, Free Kick, Monsta, Forgotten Again, and a feature film about Robert Urich...

British Columbia is the dream for people like me who LOVE the sea, but also LOVE the mountains. ❤️ There's so many adventures to be had here, that's why I love being here so much. My kiddos love it too! I've lived and visited some incredible places, but nothing compares to the community, the opportunities, the landscape of being here. It's so close to Vancouver and also Whistler, but Squamish has something unique about it with the community spirit like days gone by, and water sports, mountaineering, climbing, biking, skiing, hiking... and I'm learning to ride a motor bike this Summer! I'm excited. A few of my friends and some of my clients ride and asked me to join them! How can I say no? 😂❤️

I really saw a hole in the market and wanted to help by not just making films, series, docs, but by offering low cost, high quality videography for local businesses, realtors and the automotive industry and now we have clients across Canada, USA, Mexico and expanding into Argentina, Brazil in September 2021, Germany & India in January 2022.
Did I mention that we are launching our own Film Festival at the end of June? Yep, Squamish International Film Festival... new logo and website coming next week! I'm so proud of this as it's giving more filmmakers, including elementary, middle school and high school age kiddos the chance of being recognised for their incredible film projects.

As a filmmaker I have been busy working on films back to back, Country to Country (with my kiddos in tow) for many many years, but just like everyone else last year, I stopped due to Covid and in that short time off I met a lot of great people in and around Squamish and it dawned on me that most local businesses, realtors, automotive industry couldn't afford videos to help them build a presence online, connect to customers, especially remotely, no wonder 4K videos to promote their business, so I created a low cost arm of my business and Mephobia Media was born.
Every business can have a top quality promotional video highlighting your products, telling your story and it doesn't need to cost an arm or a leg.

We reduced our prices down to the cheapest possible cost for our Mephobia Media videography & aerial cinematography packages we offer to realtors, automotive industry, local businesses... who need videos to sell their products online or in store..., but it still costs me the same or more to buy equipment, pay staff, taxes.... So how are we making money with selling our packages for less? By making our services the same high quality, but much much cheaper, they have become affordable to more local business owners, and more people are now using our services, which results in us making the same income we did before, we just have to work a lot harder for it, which my team and I are happy to do given the hard times people are going through.
For most businesses, it’s all about supply and demand. If more people buy flowers, in theory they should become cheaper, the problem is they are not, so how do we the people ensure prices for day to day products and services stay competitive? First, having a chat with the owner of a business that might have increased rates, to see how we as a collective can assist them to make their products cheaper.
I can’t accept that due to the pandemic, plywood is more expensive now than it was the day before the pandemic, same for flowers... it’s just getting the supply and demand chain going and unfortunately many many wholesalers don’t want to work harder, but less for more money and why they are taking advantage of this situation and overcharging small businesses. If people stopped buying from them, prices would drop back down.
It’s the same scenario as gas. Does it really need to be 40 cents more than it is in a town less than an hours drive away? As long as we do nothing about it, nothing will change for our local community and prices will continue to go up.

Our Mephobia Media website is now live. We had a few hiccups over the weekend, and still have a few tweaks here and there to improve it, but it's functional. We didn't think it would be at this time yesterday! 🙏

If you are a local business and need an awesome video, along with some cuts for your social media platforms, it's not going to cost you an arm and a leg. I know it's normally expensive to get top quality videos for your business, but not from Mephobia Media.
We have set packages with pricing on the website because we want it to be completely transparent and no hidden costs. We won't be sending you quotes for this or that, which bumps up the pricing.
