A project, by former Collegian & Royal Purple photographers, to show that we take the experiences and lessons learned from college - from Kansas State - to impact the world around us. "We Are K-State" is a project owned and distributed by Collegian Media Group, formerly known as Student Publications, Inc. All proceeds from the project will help fund student journalism at K-State. Incorporated in
1946, Collegian Media Group is overseen by a board of directors, half of whom are students who are elected by their fellow students. Business operations are managed by a professional staff. Most of the corporation's income comes from the sale of advertisements. The remainder comes from student activity fees, and the sale of yearbooks, phone books and mail subscriptions to the Collegian. Collegian Media Group receives no funding from Kansas State University or the State of Kansas. Donations may be eligible for your company's corporate gift matching program. In 1986, the original book, "A Week at K-State: Photographs of College Life,” documented life on the K-State campus for 7 days. In 2012, we will take seven days and show how college life molds us into individuals who help, communicate, teach, entertain and comfort. “We Are K-State" no matter where we are in the world and we take the life lessons we learned from college to impact the world around us. The outcome of these lessons can carry on to any home, job or school. As members of the K-State family, we will take a moment and look at our own impact.
“We Are K-State” will be a collection of stories - extraordinary photographs and captivating video. As former Kansas State photojournalists and journalists, we will tell the stories of Kansas State and how college experiences guide individuals through life. In October 2012, talented photographers - including those working for National Geographic, newspapers big and small, from the commercial field, education and more - will meet to produce a photojournalism project to be released in the of fall 2012. Our goal is to create an interactive website, a book as well as mobile site or application. We will promote this project through 2013 as Kansas State celebrates it's 150th anniversary as well as continuing to make it available to the public beyond 2013. Co-Editor: Maggie Clarkin Spano
