GOGO NEWS | USA UPDATE

U.S. President Donald Trump has sparked global attention after threatening to withdraw American troops from Germany following a sharp disagreement with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.

The tension comes amid the ongoing conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, which has significantly destabilized the Middle East.

The war has triggered a major global oil price surge, mainly due to disruptions around the Strait of Hormuz—a critical route for global energy supply. As a result, fuel prices and inflation are rising worldwide.

Germany has openly criticized the U.S. approach, raising concerns over economic impacts and escalating tensions. In response, Trump has hinted at reducing U.S. military presence in Europe, a move that could strain NATO alliances.

🌐 Global Impact:
• Rising fuel prices
• Economic uncertainty
• Growing political tensions 🤝

Ready for Action — Anytime, Anywhere 🇺🇸🇰🇷

Sailors from the U.S. Navy’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit (EODMU) 5, operating under Commander, Task Force 70, joined Republic of Korea Navy personnel for an advanced fast-rope drill aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73).

The exercise took place at sea during Carrier Strike Group Exercise (CSGEX) 2025, a major bilateral training operation aimed at boosting naval interoperability, strengthening the U.S.–ROK partnership, and supporting the shared vision of a free and open Indo-Pacific.

The chairman of the BBC says the corporation is fully prepared to fight the “baseless” multi-billion-dollar defamation lawsuit threatened by former US President Donald Trump. The dispute began after a Panorama documentary included a misleadingly edited clip of Trump’s January 6, 2021 speech. Although the BBC issued a personal apology, Trump insists he will sue for an amount between 1 and 5 billion dollars, accusing the broadcaster of deliberately misrepresenting him.

BBC Chair Samir Shah has made it clear that the apology does not mean the BBC accepts liability, saying there is no legal basis for Trump’s claim. The controversy has already led to major shake-ups inside the corporation, with Director-General Tim Davie and Head of News Deborah Turness resigning amid the fallout. The BBC has also decided not to rebroadcast the documentary in its current form.

Legal experts note that Trump may face jurisdiction challenges if he attempts to sue in the US, while UK defamation damages are historically far lower than the figures he is demanding. The case continues to spark debate about media accountability, political pressure, and the boundaries of editorial errors.

Hamas has rejected the UN Security Council’s resolution supporting US President Donald Trump’s Gaza peace plan, saying it does not meet Palestinian rights and tries to place Gaza under international trusteeship.

Hamas stated that giving an international force authority inside Gaza, including efforts to disarm the resistance, removes neutrality and makes it a party to the conflict in favor of Israel. The group says it rejects any clause aimed at disarming Gaza or weakening the Palestinian right to resist.

Algeria’s UN Ambassador Amar Bendjama thanked Trump for helping secure the ceasefire but stressed that real peace in the Middle East cannot be achieved without justice for the Palestinian people and the creation of their independent state.

Thirteen members of the Security Council supported the US proposal. Russia and China abstained, with Russia having presented a rival resolution.

The plan calls for Hamas to be disarmed, for an international stabilization force to be deployed in Gaza, and for a temporary technocratic committee to govern the region.

It also proposes the creation of a Board of Peace, expected to be chaired by President Trump, to oversee Gaza’s administration and reconstruction.

Following pressure from key Arab states, the updated draft mentions a possible future Palestinian state, though it does not explicitly confirm full statehood. Israel criticized the reference to a “credible pathway” to Palestinian self-determination.

Philippine police report that around 550,000 people have gathered in Manila for a major anti-corruption rally, which is expected to continue until Tuesday.

Public anger has intensified after President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.exposed the corruption scandal during his State of the Nation Address in July, following weeks of severe and deadly flooding.

According to reports, private contractors are accused of stealing public funds through ghost projects and delivering poor-quality infrastructure in areas now badly affected by floods.

Whistleblowers have also claimed that several lawmakers received kickbacks from construction companies.

🇻🇪🔥 Venezuela Tension Rising

The U.S. is accusing Maduro’s government of links to a “drug cartel,” while critics say this may be a political move to justify more pressure — even military action.

Maduro denies the claims and is calling for direct talks with the U.S. as warships move closer to the region.

Is this about fighting drugs… or something bigger?

Tom Cruise has finally received his long-awaited Oscar — not for a single performance, but an honorary Academy Award at the 2025 Governors Awards in Los Angeles. 🏆✨

After more than forty years in the movie industry, this honor recognizes his entire body of work, his commitment, and his influence on cinema. While he’s never won a competitive Oscar — despite four nominations (“Born on the Fourth of July,” “Jerry Maguire,” “Magnolia,” and as a producer for “Top Gun: Maverick”) — this lifetime achievement award changes the narrative, celebrating his legacy rather than a single role.

Introducing him was director Alejandro González Iñárritu, and Cruise delivered a deeply emotional speech about gratitude, perseverance, and love for his craft. It was a powerful reminder that success isn’t always instant — sometimes, it comes after decades of dedication.

Do you think Tom Cruise deserved a competitive Oscar earlier in his career?
