NEAR SKYLINE: Mount Kato Ski Area; Mayo ambulance has been requested for a 70 year old male with a possible deformity to his upper leg. Patient is conscious, breathing and responding normally. Mayo Ambulance transported the male patient to MCHS Mankato. The patient reported he was skiing when his right leg twisted underneath him. No obvious deformities were noted; however, the patient was significantly tender at the site of pain.

ROADS CLOSED... MN Hwy 60 between Windom and St. James is currently closed. US Hwy 71 is currently closed from Redwood Falls south to US Hwy 14 due to drifts and stalled cars blocking the road. I-35 is also closed from Albert Lea south to Ames, Iowa.

Most of central and southern Minnesota is in a no travel advised status period. The main state and US highways are in very rough shape. The lesser traveled county and rural roads are in even worse shape this morning.

While travel within city limits is probably doable, once you get out into the wide open rural spaces, it is really rough out there.

If you don’t absolutely have to travel, stay put. Strong wind gusts of 30 to 40+ mph will continue through the morning with slow improvement this afternoon. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for most of central and southern Minnesota until 6pm.

UPDATE: WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY UNTIL 6PM ACROSS MUCH OF MN...The Blizzard Warning in Minnesota has been replaced with a Winter Weather Advisory that is in effect until 6pm. While snow is done falling, strong 30 to 40+ mph wind gusts will continue through the morning into the afternoon, creating blowing and drifting snow and occasional ground blizzard conditions. In addition, roads are covered with ice and snow drifts and are very slippery.

Conditions will slowly improve throughout the day, but for now, no travel is advised across much of central and southern MN into northern IA.

These are road conditions as of about 5:30am Monday. I-35 is still closed from Albert Lea south to Ames, IA. No travel is advised across most of south central and southwestern Minnesota into northern Iowa and for a portion of southeastern North Dakota.

Snow has stopped falling, but strong wind continues to create areas of blowing snow especially in rural areas. Conditions will gradually improve this morning into this afternoon.
