When your nonverbal child can finally argue with his sister 🥹
never thought I’d be happy to see my kids arguing… but here we are.
For the first 10 years of Matty’s life, he couldn’t tell us what he wanted, what he was thinking, or even if he understood everything going on around him. As his parents, we spent years wondering if we’d ever truly know what was on his mind.
Now,with Matty learning to spell and with his AAC, he’s starting to choose the exact words he wants to use…even if it’s to argue with his sister over her phone.
To us, this proof that he has a voice and he’s learning how to use it.
Do I still worry about his future? Every single day. He still can’t tell us everything, like exactly how he feels or everything he’s thinking. But for the first time in a long time, it feels like we’re moving forward.
After 10 years of wondering if we’d ever hear his thoughts, we’re finally getting little pieces of them… and that’s a feeling I can’t even put into words. ❤️
